Hello. New to the s197. Just picked up my new to me 05 a few weeks ago. It came with a Sct X4 tuner. Went to check it out and maybe up load a preloaded tune but I kept getting an error code on the tuner. The code was error 11020, 10007. I looked them up and did a update to the tuner and went to try again and got the same. Anyone have any idea what's going on or what I need to do to get it to connect to the car?

Thanks

One thing people have learned in the past is not to do the updates unless they apply to your model of car. They tend to screw things up. Give SCT a call.

Those sct error codes are very generic.
First thing, check device info and see if its "married" to a VIN. Confirm its your VIN.
I would also try to just read codes, this can be done on any supported Ford vehicle.

I did check to see if it is married and it is not and has 5 downloads available.

Ok, so its unmarried, and has 5 unlocks left. That x4 was never used.
So, is it the right x4 for that car? Look at the model number of the X4, and check what vehicles are supported.

The correct SCT x4 mdl/part number for your car is 7015. Should be on a tag on the back. Once you get it working avoid software updates. For whatever reason the updates often brick the tuner. If you can't get it working you may have to return it to SCT to fix it. Cost me $150 to unlock mine. Been working fine ever since.

Quite a bit of useful information on their website.

In the event that you ever decide to update the tuner, it's imperative that you return the car to its stock tune first, then update the device. If the update is successful, you can then re-apply any canned or custom tunes to the vehicle. I know everyone's mileage may vary, but I have update two different SCT X4 tuners at least 3 times each and haven't had an issue yet. Perhaps "yet" is the operative word, but so far, so good. I also keep a text file of the current state of the device and the currently applied tune.

I do have the 7015. Waiting to hear back from Sct to see what they want me to do. Might just have to send it in.

Sometimes SCT can do a remote reset, so you don’t have to send it in. You have to have the serial cable for tuner to computer connection and download their software. Might be another possibility… good luck buddy.
