I think I'm going to need a tensioner retaining clip as pictured below:

Does anyone have one that I may borrow? It looks like it only comes with a tensioner clip when you buy it new.

I'm not having any fun lol
I'm having a problem getting the drivers side cam phaser at 12 o clock. I've removed the followers and I can't get the chain on the phaser. There's no slack to line it up to 12. this is what I can only get:

The only way to get it to 12 is if I skip a tooth down at the crank sprocket but I know it's out of time if it doesn't line up to the crank dot. So what the hell do I do? I can get the passenger side with no problem.

I was looking at this photo a member posted and it seems the drivers side is not exactly at the 12 o clock position either???

Maybe it's just the angle of the above pic, but it doesn't look like it's exactly 12?
Can someone please chime in? I'm really frustrated with this timing deal.... : /

Yeah your good. As long as your timing marks are properly lined up ur good. Just make sure u followed the steps correctly. But looks good. And on the oil pan gasket add silicone all the way aroun were it meets up to the front cover. Don't want an oil leak.

I've been reading that I need to pressurize the chain tensioners. I can't seem to find where to connect this and what fittings to use. All I can find is use a bug sprayer. Does anyone know?

So I went out and bought a bug sprayer and figured out to buy a fitting that fits the oil pressure sensor next to the oil filter. I've pump a little over a quart and the drivers side tensioner seems to remain tight with only a little slack when spinning the motor by hand and stopping. However, the passenger side is a different story. When turning the motor over by hand the chain has no slack bug when I stop it this happens:

I've read that there should be some slack on one side at all times, but is this normal? Or is my tensioner screwed? I'll add that with both tensioners primed

U have to remember that u cannot spin the engine as fast it normal does. So when u spin it the Cam moves back and forward because of the valve spring tension. So best thing is always inspect the gasket if it's good. Then ur golden and if u think it may be bad just replace it. Too much work for a few cents. If u get what I mean. Here at work I replace everything. Tensioners, guides, u name it

I didnt use the bug sprayer, I just hooked the battery back up & let my ol'lady turn the engine over with the key a few times. Everything was fine.

One thing that I noticed is that as I primed with oil, the oil would seep out around the tensioners. Is that normal after an "x" amount of pressure?
I inspected the guides and they seemed fine by me. You're right I should replace but...

That's not tensioner related. I'd guess the chain wasn't all the way seated and jumped on one side.

They shouldn't bleed out. The one in the pic appears to have a leaking seal . Remove the tensioner and inspect the gasket.

Did you crank it over by hand until the marks lined up again? I did that on my first motor. IIRC it took 76 revolutions, lol.

No I used the look down, look left, look right method. 20 times . LOL

Damnit. Ok so should I replace them with the 2 valve tensioners or the plastic 3v tensioners?
