I wish E85 was more readily available over here in the Northeast. I've heard I can get like 30 hp on an otherwise stock Coyote by tuning for it.

plenty in my parts, four stations within 3 miles of my home and at least 5 more within 10. :beerchug2:

There is only one E85 station that I know of in all of western and central Maryland. I like driving my Mustang too much for that.

I've got a buddy who races a Subaru. He goes to that station in his twuck and fills up 55 gallon drums at a time.

If you had a truck and a lift you could always do what we do with diesel at the ranch for our tractor.

We just take a 500 gallon tank into town and fill it. We use the tractor to lift it on and off the truck, but you could use any lift really.

Do you know the limit of fuel a person is allowed to move at one time before a hazmat license is required?

Just googled it. 110 gallons before a hazmat "placard" is required. 150 gallon max.

I've never been pulled over with it. Technically it's on a trailer and it may be separated into different 100 gallon sections within itself as apparently you can carry as much fuel as you want in multiple containers though as I didn't see anything limiting the number of containers. I can't say for sure.

In most states its 110gallons no matter how its packaged before a placard, CDL and appropriate shipping papers are required.

One of my buddies(who lives in a nazi housing community) was hemmed up for keeping about 200gallons of e98. I think it was a few grand but not 100% sure.

Ive found the best way to move and store e85/e98 is blue food grade 55gallon poly drums. Usually can get them free if you look around.

What are they using for an octane enhancer?

I guess we are lucky. Chevron 87-89-91-94 has no ethanol in it....and also does not contain mtbe. Shell 91 has no ethanol either...and also no mtbe. But this is on vancouver island, and also the lower mainland ( vancouver bc). My vmp tune was tweaked for 94 octane and no ethanol. The story I got was if the gas contains up to 10% ethanol, the eng will run .3-.5 leaner afr....at least on 05-10 3v engs. The 11-14 cars have wideband o2 sensors up front, the 05-10 engs don't. If I'm on a road trip....and can only buy 91 octane with 10% ethanol, no big deal, I bring along the sct-x3, and back the timing off a few degs, and also increase the fuel by 2%.

Shit the 91 octane kept me honest on the road. When my daily driver was in the low 10s, and I would drive it 64 miles one-way from my house to my work in Brea, I would load in the RACE TUNE on PURPOSE. That way, I had to stay out of the throttle.

I decided to do that after I raced a viper and a motorcycle on the way home from work one night. I was thinking to myself if I keep this shit up, I am going to f up bad. So I loaded in the race tune (meant for C16). Problem solved lol.

I'm guilty of that forgot I had 87 in the tank from my roadtrip back from the track and did a couple 10lbs of boost pulls. Luckily my iat's are low as shit at that level, oops lol

To run E85 you have to run 30% more fuel so think about how much pump and injector you have. If I'm wrong here let me know.

You are kind of right. A motor made for gasoline will use more. My results have been different but I usually have higher compression motors. Even with a 9.4 motor and whipple it was only 20% more. I can't remember the exact numbers but with the 11:1 and this 12:1 it's been under 20%. I just switched back to e85 with the dob setup so there is more to come with that. I'm expecting under 20% though.

It's true that there are less btus in ethanol but that isn't the end all measurement for how a fuel performs. As the compression increases more energy comes out of e85.

I've explained it in detail enough times that if you are interested a search will turn up much more info.

30% is usually the number folks who don't like ethanol throw up because they only think about btus. To me that's the same as comparing ice cream and pinto beans as fuel for the human body. The one with more energy in the form of kilocalories isn't the best fuel.

To run E85 you have to run 30% more fuel so think about how much pump and injector you have. If I'm wrong here let me know.

I saw tests on a car that went from C16 to E85. It made the same power. E85 is definitely the way to go for a street/strip car for sure.

I've gained as much as 45rwhp peak and 75 in certain rpms going from 92 to e85 with nothing changed in the tune except for the fuel stoich.

Once the spark advance was increased it made even more power. It just doesn't seem to follow the "rules" of gasoline for an internal combustion engine.
