FYI Make sure you use quality exhaust gaskets.
I used Mr Gasket ultraseal header gaskets and locking header bolts. They were definitely worth paying extra for rather than using the items that came with the headers. So far so good. Even the headers have barely discoloured since they're 304 stainless steel.
Luckily for me, living in a dry country and having a rust free car, all the old exhaust manifold studs came out intact and the original gaskets were still in great condition.
My mechanic took about four hours to install them and installed new engine mounts at the same time. Dropping the k member created more space and avoided the need both to uncouple the steering shaft on the driver's side and remove the starter on the passenger side.
As a bonus, the shorty headers are 5lb lighter than the cast iron manifolds and they dissipate heat a lot faster.

I screwed together a couple 2x8s and used them between the the jack and the lip of the oil pan. Worked great. As I understand it, a 4x4 can support 3 tons vertically. Might be easier.

Don't use 12-point sockets. Use only 6-point sockets b/c all your fasteners are really easy to round off.
