Went to the track today, busiest I have ever seen it. On my 5th run I broke a belt which added two big fucking dents in my hood. :wtf: I think it started letting go before the 1/8 mile because my time was off. It let go on the 3 to 4 powershift. I think I am done for the year, time to get things ready for the 4R70W swap.

BTW I saw one of the new Challengers running at the track. The best he ran was 13.4 @103.

or a Thump_RRR Tensioner

Come on Ron, I bought Peter's tensioner as soon as I found out you couldn't break it. This is the first belt I broke since I put it on, before it was more common. I am pissed that this time it fucked up my hood, but if I had to break something at the track this is still cheap.

oh really? . Do you have an 8 rib kit? It could be a pulley out of alignment. Take a belt and wrap it around the S/C pulley and the alt pulley alone and pull it tight. Take a straight edge on the alt and point it at the S/C pulley and measure the distance between the belt and the straight edge. My S/C Pulley was too far back by 1 rib.

I knew someone drop the T word. Maybe I should have done that but way too late now. I don't have the cash to switch it and I don't have someone around here I would trust to tune it. Your pics look like mine, but what is the first pic of?

BTW, I love your new setup, take your time with the last few pieces and then have fun.

No, I was using a 6 rib. I will change that over winter. The pulleys were lined up using a NAPA laser so I don't think that is the problem. In addition to my checking them Sutton doubled checked them when I went in for the Dyno tune. With all that said, I'll put the laser back on when I get the 8 rib pulleys.

With all the belts you have broken did you ever have one that fucked up your hood?

You don't need a turbo. You are not going to have any more belt issues when then 4r70 goes on there...:thumb:

Yea, funny thing is the belt had maybe 20 runs on it. When I got back to the pits and went to open the hood I was sick. Then I opened the hood and it looked worse than it really was. There was belt marks all over the place and I thought that the belt might have taken out something other than the hood. I will snap some pics later, but the one that scared me the most was the hit the oil filter took. It would have been very bad to knock the filter off at over 100mph.

The view I have on it now is after I prove to myself that this is solved with an 8 rib setup and an auto I will buy the Steeda hood and have it installed.
