What RPM are you crossing at? Maybe run a deeper gear and cross at a higher RPM. Your 60' should improve, and you shouldn't lose anything crossing the line just beyond your power band. That's how most of the real drag cars are setup anyway.

With the 26" Hoosiers I was crossing at 136-137 and my rev limiter hits about 139-140 (7000rpm). With the 28.25" tires I only made 2 passes but my 60' times dropped by more than a tenth. I don't know what the rpm was at the line because I didn't look. I've already gotten rid of the tires and will replace them with 27" Hoosiers.

I don't want to go with 4.10 gears on the street because I would have to shift a lot more than I do now. I'm trying to wrap up this project because I'm tired of spending money on it. Changing tire size is a lot easier and cheaper than changing gears.

My Yellow Saleen car would cross the stripes at 7300-7400 RPM and made peak power around 6900-7000. Stretch it out as far as she'll go!

That's what I was getting at, and exactly what I plan to do as well. I think I'll make peak power around 7k, but I'm expecting to cross the line around 7300 (4.10's and 28's). Should be fun.

These cars are kind of heavy, deeper gearing is always better to get them out of the hole. Skwerl, at your power level, your 60's should be much better. A lower gear would improve that. But, as you say, if you're done spending money on it, then tires alone should satisfy your need.

I'm just having a hard time seeing the difference between 3.73 gears and a 26" tire versus 4.10 gears and a 28" tire. Traction has never been an issue, my car hooks so good that I cannot get any wheel spin at all and I typically bog a little right off the line, which is what is killing my 60'. I simply cannot see how swapping gears and then stepping up in tire diameter to put me right back at the same final gearing ratio will make a significant difference. Plus I would end up having to use overdrive cruising around town at 45-50mph instead of 4th gear.

You are bogging out at the start?? How so?? Why?
With your power level, you should be having traction issues, no matter what tires you are running.
What RPM are you launching at?

If you have no traction issues, then I'd say just launch higher/harder. That should take care of the bog.

The difference between running 3.73's and 26's compared with 4.10's and 28's, is the 28" tire can take a much harder hit on the launch. There's more tire there for not only contacting the track surface, but to absorb a hard hit, so it will stick a lot better. But you have to launch harder to use it.

When I swapped from 26's to 28's, my 60's dropped from inconsistent 1.7/1.8's to low 1.5's every time. With the 28's I was able to launch a lot harder, and it was far more consistent. The 26's I was always walking a fine line of hooking or spinning. More often than not, I would just over power them. If I launched softer to not spin, it would bog a bit.

Anyway, I'm just offering my opinion. The best thing to do is make a change you're comfortable with and look at the results. Then consider changes from there. Every car, every track, and every driver is different. So what works for me, may not work for you.

Still launching at 5-6K just like the last time we went over this a month or two ago. I'm not very good at slipping the clutch and when it dump it the car bogs no matter how hard I launch. Traction is not and has never been an issue. A month ago on worn out 26" tires I had a 1.53 sixty foot. On the new 28" Mickey Thompsons I had a 1.63 and 1.68 with slightly more power. My 1st gear is tall as shit. Perhaps if I had a little bit of wheel spin I wouldn't bog and would trap at a higher speed.

I'll continue to put a little more effort into it but I'm about done messing with drag racing. To be honest for the last year I only want to get my time slip and get the hell out of there. In fact I'm seriously contemplating just giving up on it right now and not spending any more money on it. I'll probably just let it be for a while and see how I feel in a month or two.

Around town.... I drive 150 miles....and I'm down to 1/4 tank. Drive 200 miles...and it's empty. With E85.... it could travel aprx 100 miles....then it's down to a 1/4 tank.

You gotta burn 56% more fuel..when using E85. Your present FPDC would have to be 64% or less to use existing pumps + injectors etc.

Unless they are selling E85 dirt cheap... it's no bargain.

Race gas for less than the cost of regular that makes more power than gasoline is a bargain imo. Since it can't detonate it's cheap insurance for those of us with higher compression and or boost.

Your figures don't make sense at all. 56% more fuel? Is that your result or just the current misinformation that's being thrown around? That's quite different than my results. I've run it with a Whipple, Paxton, Procharger, and na.

56%! I call bullshit on that too. Last year I was at 700/788 on GT500 kit with a dual bap, frpp 80lb injectors and a -8 fuel line.

As I just posted in the resonator thread, I replaced my resonators this morning. I had previously purchased the Vibrant 'ultra quiet' resonators which are oval shaped and bigger diameter, but they were only 12" long. This time I went with the Vibrant 1793 resonators which are a standard 4" diameter but 18" long. Believe it or not the car is actually quieter now and the resonators tuck up better as well.

Skwerl, why did you use u-clamps? Those tend to leak over time.
I would have used exhaust band clamps.

Once he's happy with the exhaust the ultimate fix is to pull the OTA pipes and weld everything up. Cheap.

On the front I couldn't use the band clamps because there wasn't room. I attached the resonator directly to the reducer which is welded on the H pipe and steps up from 2.5" to 3" diameter.
I also prepped each connection with Permatex exhaust and muffler pipe sealant to help prevent leakage.

Although Skwerl did state its a "safe" tune meaning, there is more potential in there.
This may be an extremely safe tune to let Skwerl spin the tires and have fun until the real tuning can be done.

Regardless, that an amazing result considering the size of his blower...slightly bigger than a M90. sigh
Wish I that option was available when I was building mine.

No you don't. The M90 has a much smaller intercooler.

Remember, Gerald...More is better. :thumb2:

Got the new CS bumper back from the paint shop today and put it on. Looks pretty good I think. I'll get pictures after the car gets a bath.

Exhaust sounds great, better than before and these resonators are a little bit quieter than the others.

Met another Bullitt owner at a traffic light in Lake Mary this afternoon. A very sharp, 100% stock DHG Bullitt.
