NEED HELP!!! I cant find a three prong pulley remover anywhere! the ones i found are all to big and wont fit between the balancer and the radiator? Where did you guys get your tools from for the install!?!?!?! THNAK YOU

Unless it's an automatic, then you'll need a buddy.

I did mine by myself and it's an Automatic for sure.

Did you remove the fan shroud first? That has to come out first.

I used a Lisle three pronged puller with no problem, I also used a pulley installer tool but you can do it with the supplied longer bolt.

No i did not. It doesnt say anywhere to remove the fan. I think the threeprong one i bought is jsut to big. its a 7" stretch one

OK, you have to remove the fan shroud with the fan. First disconnect the two expansion tanks from the shroud. Just leave the connections in tact and push them to the drivers side. Disconnect the electric plug to the fan on the pass side of the fan shroud. Then there is just one small bolt on either side of the shroud (near the top) and lift it out. it takes a little jockeying but it just sits in a slot on the bottom so no bolts. Then there is plenty of room for almost any puller.

i jsut got the bolt off. i had my borther hold the belt with the balancer and i just lossend it and it came out. Im going to go bak to the store nd buy a smaller 3prong puller. see if it works if not ill PM u back. Thank you for the help! Really Appretiate it!

If you pull that shroud you should be able to use the puller you already have. Try it before yo buy another puller.

Getting the bolt off is easier than reinstalling and torqing the new bolt. Just put your car into gear and set the hand brake and you should have no trouble with the bolt. This whole install is LOT easier with the shroud outa there.

If you use an impact it takes about 1/2 second to crack the bolt loose. You don't need to "hold" anything. The link from TMS is a good one and the one I followed.

Any Advance or Autozone should lend you the pulley puller instead of you having to buy one.

On an auto, you can't torque the crank bolt unless you somehow lock the torque converter. And that TMS link? Look who wrote it.

Like this, it takes about 5 minutes to attach the tool and remove it again. It will hold the flexplate to loosen the cranlk bolt or to torque it to Ford specs.

on my manual was completely easy, just put car in 4th and pull ebrake up....gotta love a manual lol

eah it ended yup being a hardr install then what it was, All my three prong pulley removers were to big for my car. Ive got alot of tools from my dad b/c he was a mechanic but he also worked on trucks, the three prong removers he ahd were huge lol. so i did rent a smaller one form autozone and it worked fine.

i did have the car in gear with ebrake on.

I made the "Flexplate Holder" in my garage and I am in the process of acquiring a patent through a tool company in Iowa.

You just need to be smarter than the torque converter. Steeda suggests holding the flexplate with a wrench. Well good luck with that, it would take two people and I really doubt you could actually hold it safely that way.

It's a guy named "Taco Bill" from TMS who has a lot of really decent write ups. Some guys need a little outside help to do some of these add ons others don't.
