What's the trick to getting these off? Used a breaker bar with jack handle as a cheater and had two of us on it. Heated the bolt with a torch. Torqued on it so hard we got the socket distorted and stuck. In the middle of K-member install lying on my back.

Something's wrong. Are you turning on a nut that's integral/welded to the k? Are you turning the bolt clockwise?

I had no issues.

It's the nut on the bottom. Should I be wrenching on the top bolt?

Yeah, go from the top. The nut is fixed to the k member.

What the .... Really? I feel like a tool. Why would not the BMR instructions OR my Haynes manual not say to undo them from the top. Has a picture from the bottom like my pic with a couple of big white arrows pointing at the welded on nuts. This along with the assumption in the BMR instructions to use a "deep 18 mm socket" implies to me that it has to fit over the shaft of the bolt sticking through the nut. I guess I out thunk myself on that one.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Gonna go out and finish dismantling so tomorrow evening I can assemble.

So why is there a little icon for me? I click on it and it says I have 19 reps. Am I special or something?

Quick update. K- member is in and all I have left to do is swap the tie rod ends. I busted open one of them with my little pickle fork and shot a little stream of grease in my face. Always wear eye protection even if you don't think you need to. So gonna do that tomorrow and throw it on an alignment rack on Wednesday. Then I'll be done.
