My friend Jeremiah had his machine shop handle the machine work and then he assembled the short block. Jeremiah has a much cleaner shop than the shop I work in and he has the proper tools to check bearing clearance, and file fit the rings plus he has built hundreds of fast mod motors.

This is my first post, but I have been following this thread and it is definitely inspiring me for my build.

I don't suppose you have a set of charge motion plates laying around. I was wondering if they would work with the frpp manifold. If so I was thinking using the steeda ones for direct port. I just don't want to drill into the frpp manifold.

I would also like to know the answer to this. In my head, it seems like it would work. Sure the intake would be taller at that point, but wouldn't it in theory make the runners longer and in turn make up the low end torque that is supposedly lost when you add the FRPP manifold?

Sorry not trying to de rail thread. I don't it would make more torque. From what I understand long runners make more hp and short runners make more tq. But I'm no expert I've just read it in a few places.

On fuel injected engines long runner=tq
On carb engines long runner=hp
On fuel injected engines short runner=hp
On carb engines short runner=tq

It has to due with pulses to bottom of the carb on carb engines vs air pulse at throttle body on efi

How many hrs in the heads so far?
8 in the exhaust side only. I may do like modular head shop does for there stage 1 heads and not touch the intake ports, just work the bowls on the intake side and work the exhaust completely

Did you match the factory gasket for the exhaust side?

pretty much, used the fel pro gasket, spent a ton of time in the bowl areas and the short turn radius. The factory exh ports are Very restrictive....much more so than the intake IMO
