Quick question Kelly, my CC is probably super duper awesome at slowing down oily gases and collecting them due to the fact that I modified the filter media and the hoses have coiled springs in them. I refluffed the steel tube mesh that was in it already and I added even more steel wool as a condensation media to let the vapors cool and collect on it. Could this be the result of the CC just working really really well? Or am I just being optimistic... :(

Well, what does the super duper media look like?

I am not exactly referring to the catch can video, but in general, if you get water inside your engine in any way....it is best to go ahead and change it before any negative effects can present themselves.

There is going to be a certain amount of water (condensation) built up in an engine, especially one that sits often....but getting puddles on water inside the air tube, which causes stumbling, is not a very good thing.

what are you running for an intake tube ...stock airbox or a jlt? and your now a blow through set up correct?

Basically running a DIY jlt. Tube with Airaid cone filter. And yes, its a blow through setup.

I hate to do it, but Im probably gonna dump the oil tomorrow. Which sucks ass cuz its Amsoil with only 1,000 miles on it.

You got a shield around it ?...Im running the JLT with cone filter but theres a shield around it that seals to the hood and only draws air through the stock opening....I drive in the rain all the time and ive never had that issue...may want to look into using the shield from one of these kits

That sucks man. Wonder if yours being a '13 has to do with your issue. I drive in rain all the time and I've never had any issues.

I blame the heat vent. Im waiting on some more rain to see if my foam stuff job fixes it.

Here is the CC after I drained what you saw in the cup

And this is the extra filter media aka steel wool to aid in collection droplets

I took it all apart and cleaned it again, removed the steel wool. Lets see how this goes. Funny thing is, the car drives great, and no problems have come up. I know lots of water getting sucked in can pop a motor, but to get hydrolocked you need a large amount. In general, an engine creates water and consumes it all the time, not to mention the steam bath they get when super cold and then heated up to op temps.

Got an option to get a rebuilt 6060 complete swap for a great price. Researching it all now. For the price diff compared to the JPC conversion, it makes sense. Like saving $3K type sense.

Well, after further research, I think I'm gonna stick with the XL setup. Brand new, better setup, beefier, and ready to go with everything.

In regards to your CC, you can also put in a small section of sponge to help collect the left over oil so it is not sloshing around. Steel wool and sponge work also.

Also using a gt500 PCV works wonders as well. How is your PCV routed? Pictures ?
