You can stage the car shallow to keep it from rolling through the beams.
ok just thought of my question
if you are on a track that is oriented slightly downhill, and you have a manual, how do you stop your car from rolling though the staging beams while the clutch is down with one foot and the revs are being held up with the other?
had this problem at one track I would go to sometimes. funny enough when the track took new ownership and they got serious about track prep the problem suddenly stopped.
the only thing I could think to do was either wait till the last possible second to take my foot off the brake and bring the revs up or just not go there.
I tried holding the e brake and then dropping it before the green, but apparently I don't have the coordination to really pull it off and get a good R/T
26" tall rears, definitely.Well, my turn Who knew wheels could be so damn hard to pick! Anyway, looking at race stars. Thinking 17x9.5 and 17x7. Tranny would be a 4R70 with the wide ratio gear set. I believe these are the ratio's 1st 2.84 -1, Second " 1.55 -1, Third " 1.1, Overdrive - Fourth " .7 -1
Looking at tires, it looks like M&H has a nice set that would work. Fronts: 26/8.50R17 Front
They have 2 rears: 275/40R17 (26" Tall) 275/50R17 (28" Tall)
QUESTION: I have 3.55 gears, 600 to 650 HP, which rear would work better?
Thanks guys
Bias ply in whatever size you choose. Racestar.......yuck and get a 28" tall tire on the front. 26" is too short with your turbo kit.
26" tall rears, definitely.
James he is old and won't beat on it so I wouldn't worry about that. Lol. Sorry Brian.
LOL...when you punch the numbers, at 6500rpm the 26" is 129mph in 3rd and the 28" is 139mph
I was looking at the 1st gear ratio. How much time do you spend at 129mph? Wouldn't you want to be in 4th gear crossing the line at the track?
The numbers aren't jiving here. With a 3.55:1 rear and the transmission in 1:1 ratio, a 26" tire will give you a hell of a lot more than 129mph. What is your redline set at?
I have 3.73 gears, 6800 redline, 26" tires and hit 136mph in 4th gear (1:1 ratio).
Like I said, go with the 26" unless you plan on switching to 4.10 gears.
