Considering you're likely to change all the performance parts on the SGT, you'd only really be buying for the looks, heritage, and the fact that it was the only Mustang actually built by Shelby so you'd just have to come to terms with the fact that you're paying more for what's essentially a Mustang GT. On the other hand, the same could be said for the Bullitt except that it lacks the prestige and name. Either way, you still have a badass starting point. Personally, I'd go with the SGT.

I saw a bullitt with a shelby front end swap. It was the most beautiful s197 I've ever seen.

Yeah its tough, one of the biggest things I hate about the SGT is the side scoops and the fact i'd have to get the holes in the 1/4s filled and repaint. It seems like the SGT is the easier of the 2 to find.

I have some body parts for either one.

Funny story... that is actually a 2005 Mustang GT repainted in the original HG. The owner created that car before they came out with a S197 Bullitt.

the only reason I got a SGT was because I got it for the same price as a 40k mile GT 3 yrs ago, after I bought it I realized im about to replace everything Shelby did to this performance wise.

depends on if you're one those people who are worried about value.
I've had a few people tell me they think the SGT's will eventually be worth more than GT500's because they were actually made at Shelby and there are a lot less of them. I don't know if they ever will be. but I love mine. I guess its just like any new "special editon" mustang, (mach 1's bullitts) but I do like the fact that its a little more rare than a normal gt

Only things I see going for mine is it's a 45th anniversary, and it's the first year for Brilliant silver metallic, and also the last year before the body change.

But at the end of the day it's still just a v6 premium.

yea true, but its your car.but half the fun is building them, that's why so many people finish them and then sell them. its like my 97 GT I have a lot of blood sweat and tears into it, its slow as shit, not worth a whole lot, runs great very dependable. but I would b a wreck if I sold it then seen it torn apart in a year or so.

Is it paid for? If so, then it has that going for it! None of the 05-15 are really worth anything more than book. With a couple of exceptions.
Oh and it is a very nice looking ride so I say throw a 5.0 in it and call it a day.

It's getting there, I have a little bit longer left on the loan. The car does have some sentimental value to it. For the longest time I had it in my head that I didn't need a GT and that a V6 would be fine as i'm only going to do body mods and not make it a "quick" car. Well the car has started to become really boring. So I had started doing research on building a 4.3L stroker and slapping a blower on it. Well for all of that money I could swap in a 3v and do a tvs 2300 or a paxton probably. I would love a coyote but man that swap would be expensive haha.

In fact, you should get both. Removes any "Grass is greener" thoughts or remorse in the future.
