I built a Lexan rear window last night and installed it today. I was going to buy a FR500S rear window but they cost $600.00. I built this one for $50.00. I used the original window as template, masked off the edge and painted it black.

The stock window weighed 24.89lbs. The Lexan weighed 9.12lbs. I have to add two support straps that will weigh less than 1lb for the pair.

Great work! Are you going to do the windscreen too?

Where were you going to buy the FR500S rear window from?

Started on my filter relocation plan but ran out of time. I still have to build the sealed air box. After it's done, I am going to put a vacuum gauge on it to see if it's restrictive. Even though my IAT's are low, The filter placement can be improved on. In keeping with the theme, I had to do something that hasn't been done yet.

you'll have to post some more pictures of this once your done. i was looking at doing the same thing but it looked like getting rid of the wiper assembly was the best option/ only way. i still dont get what your doing to keep your iats so low to. i just upgraded to the f1 and only making 14psi my iats rise from 80 to 120 just on a 3rd gear pull from 1500 to 6500

Nice work on the rear window...what race weight are you aiming for? Sub 3,000 pounds with you and a full tank?

Sub 3,000 would be nice but I weigh 230 so that's not going to happen. I think the car will weigh 3200 without me in it and a full tank of fuel. I am going to borrow 4 corner scales next week.

Ok so the back window is comparable to the windshield as I heard the windshield is 28lbs.

The lexan at 9lbs was how thick? 1/8? 3/16?

Last year, at 160 MPH while boosting in 5th, my IAT's were 108 at the end of the straight. On my dyno, KB's always have the highest IAT's.

That makes me cry. My IAT's are higher than that at idle!

I think the big Whipple spining a slow 12,500rpm is going to be my solution.

No kidding. In the summer mine are in the 140s at idle after it gets heat soaked. I envy 108 lol

or some corn and a pair if snails

I considered it. But I am not in the mood to make the switch to turbo's. And I have a 3.4L Whipple on the shelf already.

Plus I just love the stupid useless torque that the PD blowers make. It's hard to beat 400rwtq at 1950rpm if you like going sideways everywhere.:highfive:

If I were to ditch the PD blower I would go for an out of the box Procharger and be done with it.

Low IAT's is the results of a big A2A intercooler. It also helps to have the BOV on the hot side.

LOL, yeah, it's spinning pretty hard. I'm running a 6.95" lower and a 2.75" upper pulley combo.

Right now my biggest issue is that I am still breathing through the 93mm MAF, 94mm (at it's smallest points) KB intake tube, the horribly restrictive 2.6L non Mammoth blower elbow (I hear it only flows about 1150cfm) and a FRPP 62mm TB. Next week I'm making a 127mm MAF/intake tube, a sheet metal elbow and bolting up a 72mm L&M TB. That should allow me to lower the blower speed and knock the IAT's back down to something more reasonable. Right now it's horribly inefficient.
