Yes I understand what your saying Brasil. I am going to remove mine shortly and map them out of the system but that's illegal here. Most owners are doing it or being advised to by mechanics as the EGR and DPF are destroying perfectly good engines. Mitsubishi left the European market in 2021 partly down to emissions equipment that was destroying their engines and reputation. Diesel vehicles sales are in decline because of these issues. Petrol and hybrids are the way forward ATM.
I'm also going to knock the cats out to on my S197 once I get around to tuning it. Does the EGR on the 4.6 cause any contaminates in the engine? I have mine beautifully cleaned top to bottom so I want to keep it that way.

. I thought it was a small device that id mislaid somewhere around the garage after seeing one on the net. Must have been the 2 valve I was googling at too late one night. So just the oil catch cans to fit to keep it squeaky clean

In Germany Diesel are in decline because hybrids get a tax rebate, free parking and there are no diesel-hybrids produced. They are cheaper to buy or lease. The war against diesel cars is politically driven.
But, EU7 regulation will increase cost for all cars so much, that you can say goodbye to the combustion engine.

maybe you are right, but I can tell you something... I will bet that in the near future all the guys that love combustion engines ( and we have a lot of them in Germany..in Europe ) will spent less money in restaurants , cinemas.. expensive supermarkets.. cloth stores. and so on , to compensate the higher expenses .
That´s the way to go. All my friends and relatives are acting like this ..
And at the end of the day, the EU will (hopefully ) break apart...

I was in a garage near the town of Recife.. Brasil. An everytime when some came in , with DPF or EGR problems, they took off the DPF and destroyed the filter with a big drill. Crazy - I know...but that´s the way the 3 world acts. If we like this or not....

1. Yeah, I'd rather spend the extra money to keep Scarlett going than go to fancy restaurants, hotels, buy expensive clothes, or buy new electronic devices. My smartphone is almost 5 years old, my laptop is 12 years old (running Windows 10), Scarlett is almost 19 years old, and my diesel W124 Mercedes is 39 years old (my parents bought it brand new in 1986)!
I buy stuff to last. In my 45-year driving experience I've only owned 8 cars, sold six, and I've owned two concurrently for the past 18 years! My longest period of car ownership was 21 years ('92 Jeep Cherokee XJ from 1995-2016). Scarlett ranks 2nd at almost 12 years of ownership.
2. I'm not sure the EU breaking up would be a good thing but getting rid of that stupid cow Ursula Von Der Leyen and every other corrupt and hypocritical EU leader would definitely get my vote! They've been taking the piss out of EU citizens for too long.

Absolutely. The tactics of the politicians is thinning the herd. Some will give up their car. Some will have to sell their house because of the crazy heating laws, some die from the thing. The streets in my home town were now rebuild according to the 15 minute smart city guidelines with wlan access points in every light post, 1/3 of parking spots removed, lanes narrowed, broad pavements, front gardens removed. I hope the EU implodes, otherwise, it will end not well.
Have you been in central Europe not long ago Dino? Paris looks like an Arabian/African city, Frankfurt/Berlin not better. I was in my local Aldi store early in the morning last week, from the ~20 people inside I was the only German. No state can survive with this madness.

Not recently but the news footage tells the tragic story. This disaster is the legacy of Angela Merkel's open door immigration policy of the 10s in the wake of the wars in Syria and Afghanistan. Now it's mostly African migrants flooding in. In the UK it's even worse. With the high birth rate amongst Muslims and the low birth rate amongst Europeans, some Europeans could become minorities in their own countries by 2050 or so.
It's our own fault because we've allowed foreign migrants to come in to fill the void left by labour shortages when what's really needed are policies that encourage Europeans to have more children in order to arrest the change in population demographic.
The EU should have just remained a free trading block. It's become too big, too bloated, and now too corrupt. I can understand why Britons voted for Brexit but they were fed too many lies by politicians and the consequences have been disastrous.
The only saving grace for us is that the EU hasn't yet imposed reciprocal tariffs on the US but if Trump continues his shenanigans, we may find parts for our beloved Mustangs suddenly become a lot more expensive!

One thing I forgot to mention is that today's youngsters find it even more difficult to start a family when they're still saddled with student loans, can't afford to buy a property due to insanely high prices, can't afford to rent a property due to insanely high rents, and often find themselves staying single well into their 30's and still living with their parents!
One solution would have been the construction of affordable housing but COVID obliterated that idea because suddenly building materials were in short supply and construction costs skyrocketed. The world has sleepwalked into one almighty mess of its own making and it's only going to get worse until there's a major reset (war, stock market crash, property crash). In the meantime, it's being run by criminals who are insidiously imposing authoritarianism and gaslighting the public in order to deflect attention away from their crimes whilst using divisive rhetoric to turn ordinary people against each other (e.g. blaming migrants for their problems instead of corrupt billionaires). It's the classic divide and rule tactic.
Lost as in "accidentally deliberately misplaced".

The problem with capitalism (as practised) is that it is a constant growth system. The US and western Europe are pretty much mature capitalist societies. Not that much room left for cities and agriculture. This drives up real estate value. Whether it's immigrants or native births (like the world really needs MORE people...), more population creates more demand which drives up prices. We are approaching the end game for western 1st world resources.

The way forward in Ireland if your emissions system starts to go haywire is delete delete delete. nobody can afford the bullshit overinflated parts prices and theres no guarantee the problem wont arise 6 months down the line again. Customers are to blame too, Short journey low miles people cant get into the idea of buying a petrol car when its perfectly logical? Every time the next euro designated engine comes out its more expensive to fix and more likely to give trouble than the engine before it. I think we are heading for the euro 7 engine sometime this year, Not so bad for petrol but probably a worse shit show for diesels. As Dino said theres more than likely going to be problems down the line with American car parts pricing for Europeans and the UK. At least I'm glad that I am nearly out of the woods in the most recent problem and future proofed a bit. Rest of my parts arrived today thankfully. As regards the economy here all i see since Covid is the Rich getting insanely rich and the working class taxed to the balls and paying for everything. i really dont see a way out for the younger generation, well those that want to work

You are 100 percent right Dino about the immigration and the fact that here people cant afford big families anymore, when I was a kid there was 4-6 children in most households, now its two at most. Theres money to hand out to immigrants who step off a plane in Ireland, deliberately tear up their passports on arrival to claim asylum and get accommodation and 500 euros a week while Irish families are living in hotel rooms and guest houses because theres a shortage of accommodation and new affordable homes being built. Hotel owners and business people are making ludicrous amounts of government money from housing Asylum seekers. There is no hope left anymore and politicians are making money hand over fist at the expense of the Irish people. It will end in some sort of civil war.

Some thoughts:
Why is it in every western country the same? In Germany nobody, also no "alternative" media reports this.
The money they give to the occupants (these are not immigrants) is send to their home countries, so money is out of local business.
Owning a house has become unaffordable to most of the families, rents are crazy high up to half of income.
There will be no civil war, it will end in a totalitarian, total control state, a big China, once the CBDC is rolled out.
