Does anybody know if the 2011 uses the same style sensor as 05-09. I'm getting a 5.0 soon and need to know if my current tpms sensor will work with the new car since I'm going to put my aftermarket wheels on the 5.0.
valve style yes, I have 4 in my garage awaiting installation.
They cost about $30 each U.S
I heard somewhere that you can take a sensor and place it in a pvc pipe and give it pressure and throw it in the trunk and you can bypass problem. Anyone else heard this and has more info or is it all bs?
You'd have to do it to 4 sensors, and you'd have to make sure the pressures were all the same and that they never leaked. Sounds like a PIA.
As for the sensors, from production date 2-26-09 all mustangs use the valve stem type sensor through the '11 model year. Prior to that production date they were band type sensors.
THe one on my car is Part number 9L3Z 1A189A. I can't find it on websites to match that number so I don't know if there will be an issue or not. What does the car do without the signal from the sensors? I am mounting the bogarts to car on Friday. What have the other racers with big and littles been doing?
So why are you guys replacing these sensors?
You can just remove them from your stock wheels/tires and install them in your new wheels.
