The owner's manual doesn't have an interval because Ford doesn't recommend an interval for change. It's wrong but they are the engineers.

Maybe they just figure you'll buy a new one before it's time to change it. :roflmao:

Been running Mercon V for about 50k/mi or so. I used to have 1st/reverse issues getting it into gear. I swapped my master clutch cylinder for a '13 GT500 master, upgraded the stock plastic line to a stainless braided. Made a massive difference. I don't ever get hung up on 1st/reverse since the swap, and rowing through the gears is easy as ever, even with my notchy Hurst shifter. Can't imagine how smooth it would be with an MGW, but I just can't bring myself to shell the clams for one. Maybe ask for one for x-mas or a birthday. Let someone else shit bricks over the price tag lol.

I think a lot of shifting issues are more clutch related than tranny internal related, in my opinion. As far as fluid, I ran Mercon V because that's what my owners manual specified. After doing my own reading, I'll be switching to Penzoil Syncromesh on my next change. But, the Mercon V has been doing fine. 50k/mi in 5 years, Vegas heat/cold.

Biggest game changer was the '13 GT500 master, and never look back.

When i talked to Tremic a year or so ago they told me to go with Penzoil and it did make a difference. Still a bit notchy but better.

Was the master cylinder a direct swap?

Yup. I recall a lot of motherfucker'ing when I realized I had to remove the clutch/brake pedal assembly to swap the master, otherwise it is a pretty simple job. Really wish I had documented the swap.

It was a blind leading the blind mod. No one had documented the before/after tech aspects. For all I know, the new master is over-throwing the slave and I could be damaging the pressure plate fingers, or prematurely wearing out the slave bearing. I don't know, nothing has failed or having problems so far, and we're going on ~4,000 miles since the swap. For all the shifting issues I had before the master swap, I would still do it again.

Do you have a part number handy, google doesn't seem to be helpful
Do you know anyone else that has done this? The possible over travel worries me but I have the same issues your saying it solved...

This is the initial thread on the GT500 master. I bought mine through Steve@Tasca, I don't have the part # handy, but he knows all that shit by heart. LOL

Like I said, the engagement is a bit higher than the 05-09 master. Best way I can put it is if you were to interpret 100% as pedal to the floor and 0% as fully released, before it took about 90-85% and the car would start rolling. Now it takes at least 60% for the car to start rolling. I can shift gears without putting the clutch fully to the floor like I had to before (and sometimes it would still grind a gear). Not having to mash the pedal to the ground is actually nice when I'm trying to be quick about it. Also nice when I'm just being a lazy fuck lol.

If it's hurting anything, it hasn't shown yet. The only thing that really concerns me at this point, is whether or not that slave bearing is constantly riding the pressure plate fingers. Alas, ignorance is bliss when you can shift this smooth. As we say in Vegas, let it ride baby.

Good Stuff! Mercon V going in right now. I honestly think the tranny fluid has never been changed so I'm excited to see the difference. I'll go with Pennzoil Synchro next time for a personal comparison.

Master Cylinder, clutch, and Shifter are next on my mod list.

Perhaps GT500 Master, Clutch undecided, and MGW/Barton.

MGW ftw!

I'm also undecided on what clutch I want. After driving a buddy's 02 GT with some kind of aftermarket clutch on it I've realized that I actually prefer that heavier/tighter feel and the stock one feels too light and numb. I'm so used to it that when my roommate let me drive his Focus ST for the first time I almost kicked a hole in the floorboard lol.

Hahaha. I know what you mean! I almost did the same thing when we first got the Focus ST's in stock. First time I took one out, I thought I inverted my kneecap because of how fast my foot went down. :roflmao:

I do have a 6060 in the Bullitt, I wouldn't know about adaptivity in the 3650. I simply put this in my 6060 since I went to a 2010+ GT500 flywheel and 2012 GT500 clutch.

I'm going to try the pennzoil next. Haven't done a changer ever so let's see.

I did royal on my focus zx3 with the standard 5spd and it sucks. Grinds 2nd when cold...once warm it's smooth and good though.
