The owner's manual doesn't have an interval because Ford doesn't recommend an interval for change. It's wrong but they are the engineers.
Maybe they just figure you'll buy a new one before it's time to change it.

I used syncromesh when I bought the car, noticeably smoother shifting from whatever was in it before and I havent had any issues in 15k
Been running Mercon V for about 50k/mi or so. I used to have 1st/reverse issues getting it into gear. I swapped my master clutch cylinder for a '13 GT500 master, upgraded the stock plastic line to a stainless braided. Made a massive difference. I don't ever get hung up on 1st/reverse since the swap, and rowing through the gears is easy as ever, even with my notchy Hurst shifter. Can't imagine how smooth it would be with an MGW, but I just can't bring myself to shell the clams for one. Maybe ask for one for x-mas or a birthday. Let someone else shit bricks over the price tag lol.
I think a lot of shifting issues are more clutch related than tranny internal related, in my opinion. As far as fluid, I ran Mercon V because that's what my owners manual specified. After doing my own reading, I'll be switching to Penzoil Syncromesh on my next change. But, the Mercon V has been doing fine. 50k/mi in 5 years, Vegas heat/cold.
Biggest game changer was the '13 GT500 master, and never look back.
Was the master cylinder a direct swap?
Yup. I recall a lot of motherfucker'ing when I realized I had to remove the clutch/brake pedal assembly to swap the master, otherwise it is a pretty simple job. Really wish I had documented the swap.
It was a blind leading the blind mod. No one had documented the before/after tech aspects. For all I know, the new master is over-throwing the slave and I could be damaging the pressure plate fingers, or prematurely wearing out the slave bearing. I don't know, nothing has failed or having problems so far, and we're going on ~4,000 miles since the swap. For all the shifting issues I had before the master swap, I would still do it again.
Good Stuff! Mercon V going in right now. I honestly think the tranny fluid has never been changed so I'm excited to see the difference. I'll go with Pennzoil Synchro next time for a personal comparison.
Master Cylinder, clutch, and Shifter are next on my mod list.
Perhaps GT500 Master, Clutch undecided, and MGW/Barton.
MGW ftw!
I'm also undecided on what clutch I want. After driving a buddy's 02 GT with some kind of aftermarket clutch on it I've realized that I actually prefer that heavier/tighter feel and the stock one feels too light and numb. I'm so used to it that when my roommate let me drive his Focus ST for the first time I almost kicked a hole in the floorboard lol.

Thanks CamPN for the cylinder - DR3Z-7A508-A
I put one in my Bullitt.
