What do you guys recommend for a 2013 GT at MSR Cresson 3.1 mile track? Sport Mode? TC Off? All Off?

There's a good chance one of these days this weekend I'll be on a wet track in the rain so I'm leaning toward keeping everything on during that time and putting it in sport mode otherwise.

Thoughts?

If your asking, you should probably try sport mode first... It'll save your ass and not really get in your way too badly... Once your comfortable all off is faster

If you do the full track watch going into and coming off of the new track to the old. A little transition going in but coming out on the bikes we used to get both tyres off the ground cause we would be top of 3rd full chat. In a car I know it will upset the chassis some. Watched a couple GT3 and Ferrari cup cars spin out their.

Unless you want to smoke your rear brakes, off. Completely off. Whether its wet or not.

Ended up doing most of the weekend in Sport mode. I did 2 sessions with everything on since Saturday there was hail piled up in the corners that was keeping everything super slick. Sport Mode gave me a great amount of freedom, never felt it kick in even when sliding at turn 1 around 100mph. :D

Got promoted to a faster run group so I guess i'll mark it as a success. Thanks for the tips guys!

RoadRacer350: You're definitely right. The track changeover does unsettle the car quite a bit and if you don't have the car ready for it you can certainly end up off the track. Luckily I kept it pretty neutrally balanced when I came up to it every time.

check your rear pads when you get a chance. i did one trackday in the wet in sport mode and it took a huge toll on pad material. i barely felt TC kick in but apparently it was doing a lot of work.

Agreed. All the way off. Last weekend, I got the chance to play with a buddy's 5.0 GT, and set in Sport Mode, the TC was very intrusive, and by the end of roughly 5 laps (c. 20 miles), I had boiled the brake fluid pretty badly. Granted, the fluid was factory-fresh only three years ago (WTF!!!), but that points to pretty heavy manipulation by the TC system.

I absolutely destroyed my rear pads when I left it on. They were smoking my last session of the weekend and I'm surprised I didn't get black flagged. Driving home from he track I heard a screeching noise under breaking. After pulling over and inspecting my brakes, I discover that its my rear brakes. After pulling them to swap my street stuff back over, I get a better look at them. Completely worn down to the back plate and trashed a rotor that would have lasted me a lot longer.

TC off is my recommendation.

Unless you are a total noob first timer, driving your S197 on track in the pouring rain, ALWAYS TURN ALL OF THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM COMPLETELY OFF.

Who was running the MSR 3.1 mile in late March? We just ran that course March 16-17th... see my build thread update in my sig. Good stuff - tricky course!

Good luck,
