I think i told a bunch of other guys on another post that the mode 6 and mode 9 will screw you every time! if you want power and have a warrenty install a for racing supercharger. i dont think it will void the warrenty.

What is mode 6 and mode 9? 6 and 9 WILL screw you every time ;).

Ford released a total of 4 TSBs on 2011/2012 5.0L Mustangs yesterday. This TSB is only 1 of the 4. As soon as I delete some of my other attachments, I will post the other 3 in the TSB sticky

Edit: Done!!

I read through those other ones, piston slap at cold temps gets a pcm recalibration and the rest are when you see a malfunction indicator lamp, also pcm recalibrations. I guess good to know... not nearly as much of a hot topic as the #8 issue though hehe.

I'm a Solutions Architect for a living, and have many Process Engineers who work for me. Whoever drew that flowchart needs to go back to school. Wow.

I talk to a Ford tech yesterday ,and from what he said, when they pull the data from mode 6 and 9 ,it contains the history of ALL codes and changes that have ever happened to the car after it was built . Heavy equipment builders have used this for a few years now and they call it "tattle tale " .The only way to clear it is for the factory to clear it,techs and dealers can't clear it .

I get free oil changes, maybe I shouldn't take the car in for that now. Eather way I think its just a way to void anybodys warrenty at any time regardless if you mooded it in any way or not, all they have to sy is you unhooked your battery, your warrenty is voided

That P1000 code cannot be cleared for a reason. This is to prevent "cheating" at OBD-II emissions tests by disconnecting the battery to clear all codes. The P1000 code is only cleared after the engine has had a chance to operate in all modes, meaning all sensors have had a chance to report in on emissions parameters. (The car needs to idle at cold and warm temperatures, stop-and-go driving, highway driving, etc.) If you've ever had an emissions test fail because you need to "drive the car around a little more," it is due to a P1000 code.

As an electrical engineer, I would be very surprised if the P1000 code is the only method Ford has for identifying ECUs reflashed by equipment other than Ford's. Whoever said about ECU checksums is probably much closer to the truth.

In other words, it may be impossible to hide that an ECU has been reflashed. It may also be possible that only Ford's engineers can determine this and that dealers cannot.

My point is that if you are worried about this kind of stuff, leave the engine stock until your warranty expires. That's what I'm doing.

Just messin with you guys!:la: LOL!

The 5.0 platform is awesome!

Yeah, I figured. :). As for this TSB, I plan on doing the same thing I did with my last mustang. Drive around stock for a several months, then get a CAI and tune. Hopefully the tuners have this figured out by 2012.

I'm curious, and ignorant to the possible fact, if any failures related to the TSB were on totally stock 5.0's or were all the failures related to even the least modded car? If it's the former, then this is nothing new IMO. If it's happened on the latter, Houston, we have a problem.

Again, pardon my ignorance, I've been trying to keep up with this inbetween everyday living activities which are quite time consuming.

I'll stick with my 06 until this is all straightened out but if that TSB is any indication I may never own one of the new 5.0's. I'd also be interested in finding out if any stock engines have had these issue's. I cannot believe any car company would put out a high performance vehicle like this with a motor that cant handle a 10%-20% increase in performance.

Looks like GM is also using a form of tattle tail,
"The Bosch ECM used in the LMM Duramax has an added tamper tattle tale. It stores the last 10 ECM
programming sessions. This means if you load ANYTHING other than GM’s own sequential updates
there will be a record stored. This record will not say who or when only that some non standard
programming has been loaded. Additionally, the GM Service Programming system will not allow the
technician to download the same updates repeatedly so there should only be a couple lines of entries and
it will also not work to repeatedly load the OEM tuning thus filling all 10 lines with the same info. This
will be a dead giveaway. This is not to say that there is no safe way to modify your vehicle."

Both GM and Ford have been doing this on the diesel trucks for years now. This is old news as far as diesel applications go.

People act like the manufacturers shouldn't add protection to their own creation.
How dare you see if I tampered with your product!!! lol

and also some people are acting like every 5.0 that rolled off the assembly line has been blowing up, who says it can't handle it? and who told you massive amounts of cars are self destructing?

I don't blame them at all. People do things all the time they shouldn't. Guy I know destroyed the transmission in his WRX. Took the whole car back to stock, went in for coverage and tried to have them repair it. They denied it. Another guy I know just traded in his pontiac grand prix with a compression problem on one cylinder and the dealer has no idea what they just took on. And odds are they will find some sucker to pass that car on to and then it'll be his problem.

People just suck and it's human nature to be tempted to dump our problems onto someone else if we think we can get away with it.
