Hey guys, I’m new to the scene especially when it comes to tuning on how everything works. I own a 4.6 2008 gt and I currently have a JLT CAI Intake with just a preloaded tune that I’m running right now. I have some kooks headers that I’m looking to put on soon, would I have to get the tune first before I get the headers installed? Or will I be able to run the car while I wait for the tune? Because I’m looking through forums and everybody says, Lito is the best but I work a lot and I don’t know how fast he’s going to send it over and this is going to happen.

Long tube headers can/will change the fuel trims. Tune modification is suggested. It can be driven without. I would suggest to keep the RPMS low and you might get a chack engine light.

You will be fine as far as drivability and the tune will adjust if there is any small variances in your fuel trims. Where you may have issues is a CEL for slow O2 sensor response as they may not heat up as rapidly as expected. I never tuned the car for just headers.

You can install the headers and run the existing tune, but don't drive the engine hard until you get a proper tune. Fortunately the Kooks headers have 3/4 length primary tubes and thus have less upstream O2 sensor (B1S1 & B2S1) warm up delay than the full length headers so you'll be fine.
Lito is indeed the best 3V tuner out there (our resident custom tuning genius @GlassTop09 might yet make a living out of it using his HP Tuners software) but since Lito lives in Venezuela, communication can be delayed. You could contact Brenspeed. They surely have a custom tune for your mods and the difference will be night and day. I'm still running the same Brenspeed 91 octane tune from a decade ago after I did my initial mods (JLT 3 CAI, DIY CMCV delete plates, Steeda underdrive pulleys) despite doing more mods since then (DIY ported stock throttle body, JBA replica shorty headers, Pypes high flow cats). Fuel trims are within spec and the engine runs beautifully.

i agree about getting a tune from lito,
i also have the jlt CAI, and i once had the preloaded tune,, it was "ok"
once i had lito tune it? i was chirping and spinning in second , and pulled so strong and hard, its funny, its like the sct tune gave it an extra 15- 20 hp, and lito than added to that, because you could notice it for sure,, so definitelyworth looking into

Lito is in Spain right now. Expect around 48 hours for a reply.
Not only does Lito supply superior tunes, he is willing to help diagnose problems. He just sent me a tune that will test the MAF and its circuitry.
He doesn’t ask for money, but I send a small payment because this problem I’m having is not tune related and would cost at least $200 bucks to bring to a dealer or anyone else just to walk in the door.

When I had a problem that was tune related from Brenspeed, they told me to pound sand.
