I am finishing my project tomorrow and have a few questions. My old combo was a completely stock 3v with a 60mm single turbo (39 lb injectors), minus axle back and an electric water pump. The new combo is a new aluminum block with a 298 ci Livernois stoker kit, MMR sage 2 heads, MMR custom stage 2 turbo grind cams, CMCV delete, 60 lb injectors, Livernois cam phaser lockouts, and 70 mm turbo.

Here is my question, Can I put in my 39lb injectors, fire this thing up, and drive it nice and easy to make sure all is OK, break in new clutch, and get it to dyno on the old turbo tune, then ill put in 60 lb injectors and build a new tune. Will the car run at all with these mods, and will it run well enough to drive it easy for what I need to do? Now its time for your .02 Thanks!

might have some driveability problems with the cams. did you delete the VCT? I see know problem as long as you don't try and get it into boost

what about tune? how are you going to tune this whole new setup with 39lb injectors without going WOT?

To 05 KB, I have not changed the VCT in the tune yet, but if my diabo will let me do it without going into a laptop, I will, otherwise, the computer will just have to fight the fact that nothing is responding to requested cam tining changes. May be an issue, may not! What do you think?? To SC Boss, I thingk you misunderstood. My old tune is with 39s, so i need them in there to fire it up, check for leaks, break-in clutch, and get it to dyno. Then I will do a parking lot swap to 60s, let the tuner wild ass guess the changes, then fire it up on the dyno and build a new tune. Will this work??

if you locked out the VCT did you use the Livernois lock outs or the replacement phasers? you may get a CEL for it and it might go in safe mode, but I don't know if it will for sure so you will have to try.

my friend ran his procharger tune on a 300 stroker with MMR heads and Stage 2 cams, he drove it and put some miles on it with out a problem but he wasn't getting on it. the car ended with a 76mm turbo and the procharger tune was fine

All that I can say is you have alot of money in your build so far and I would be terrified to F it up by being impatient. I would personally just wait and get the 60lb injectors with the proper tune......... But im a pussy! lol

I have the Livernois lockouts. It is comforting what you said about your friends car. Dont get me wrong, I dont want to blast on this thing, just start it up and drive it a little to make sure all is OK. Thanks!

I am about to face the same situation but im going to get with Adam at St Motorsports and see if he can work with me halfway across the country or have my car trailered to a shop outside of St. Louis to get a base tune and go from there. Its a tough situation when there is not a local tuner and I feel your pain but my personal experience is that impatience can cost a small fortune!

let it idle 'till closed loop... drive it gingerly... and you should make it.

If you get into limp mode... just start it again and continue to the dyno shop. I think you have the good sense to stay off of WOT. You will get MIL's and potentially strand yourself... but experiment. Truth is really that you should wait BUT if you absolutely can not, be smart about it.

Before you go do that just grab some pics and show us what a turbo looks like on a tungsten mustang.
