The bolts are Grade 8 and they are put in direct shear with the tubes. It takes an enormous amount of pressure to strip these in direct shear.

I twisted mine out of the pumpkin but not quite that bad. There is a chassis shop near me that has a jig. Cost me $500 and he straightened everything and welded from the inside and outside. The inside of pumpkin welding is supposed to be recommended method for most strength according to him and a few threads I've found online. Welding the outside is still good but apparently doing from inside is even better.
