Not saying I am right, look at BMR's web site as they have good info on them....as with the A arms the only reason I know of that people swap K memnber are for weight savings...another benefit is the ease of working on the car, LT installs, etc.

it uses the same mounting points as the stock member. other than the motor mounts be a 1/2" lower I cannot see how it would affect anything. I may be wrong. My car is not lowered.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I've just installed a UPR K member on my 2005 Mustang. Above 35 miles an hour there is a very noticeable shaking. I know the car needs an alignment as is now pulls a bit to the left. It besides the slight pull the steering is fine and the wheel turns with out problems. What should I be checking to fix the shaking?

Yes all bolts should be tight. Tomorrow after work i'll be able to get it back on jack stands and double check. Could my steering need to be aligned that badly? Also how much added vibration is considered normal with these new motor mounts? I have noticed the car shaking a bit more at idle, but I think it's normal.

No shaking here, I would think shaking would be related to some sort of rotating mass out of balance. The most obvious thing to check would be wheels and tires.

My BMR K member has been great. I have a bit of a squeak from the right motor mount when backing out of my driveway but that's about the only minor fault I can think of. After getting it in I went back and loosened all 8 mounting bolts to let it 'settle' into place without binding and then retorqued everything. The alignment was uneventful with only minor adjustments.

The additional vibration at idle is due to the firmer polyurethane motor mounts. They have very little give and transmit engine vibration to the frame.

Skwerl did it requiring leaving for a period of time to "settle" or was it fine just after loosening? I had my friend watch the engine as I revved it after install and he said it didn't move. From what I could see from inside, it looked fine.

No, I just wanted to make sure nothing was bound up, which could happen if you tighten one or two fasteners before getting everything perfectly in place.

When I installed it I didn't fully tighten anything until I had all fasteners in place. I however did do it alone so maybe I over looked something. I check tomorrow with a friend to make sure it all looks good and nothing is bound. Thanks

Brians right about vibration and the stiffer motor mounts and yes that is normal. Very noticeable from the stock mounts to the setup provided with the K-member. There should not be hardly any motor torque with new setup. Greg and I were looking at that after the installs. Get the alignment and go from there. Jeremy stated his alignment was way off but no mention of vibration. Keep us posted.

If it lowers the engine you will have changed your pinion angle. Don't forget to check that as well since that can introduce vibrations.

That's a good plan (for the UCA) but I don't think the 1/2" engine drop is changing your pinion angle enough to cause vibration. I'll stay tuned to see how this works out for you though.

About the engine vibration at idle, it's true that the poly engine mounts transmit more feel than the awful factory pieces, but they are a solid upgrade. The factory mounts allow too much play, which is why they make those torque limiters that you bolt to the bellhousing... but this is a better solution. Tubular k-member is lighter, with more clearance, and has better engine mounts. Win-win.

We'll see if the uca helps or not. I just ordered a pro street mount and control arm from UPR. I have an aluminum driveshaft and it has been my understanding that even a small change in pinon angle will cause the vibration.
