Water in oil

Have just changed cams on my '06 started no problems run good for about 4 minutes only to find water in oil. only removed valve covers and timing cover to do swap.
Any ideas where to start.

Since it's winter Down Under, a little moisture in the crankcase can be normal especially on cold, damp days if you're only driving short distances and the engine doesn't get warmed up for long enough to evaporate it.

how did you find the water? drained the crank case? on the dipstick? etc

how much water?

No definitely water, hadn't added coolant in case there was a problem. Fired engine up for approx 3-4 minutes shut it down went through normal checks and found this horrible grey water/oil mix on dipstick probably a half litre/pint extra in sump.
Have pulled sump off to clean it out and can't see any leaks from underneath ???

Not sure how that much water would get into the motor. I would say drain it refill with new oil and see what happens.
Was the car sitting for an extended period?

Did you remove the water pump when you removed the timing cover? Did water get into the engine while everything was apart? It wouldn't hurt to do an oil change real quick and see if it happens again.
