I am thinking of just buying a Bassani catted x-pipe to slap on my car.
Does it free up any extra hp at all? Or is it just more for sound? I have 2-chamber flows on my car right now also...

Input please... thanks!

X pipes are supposed to free up hp/tq in the upper RPM ranges. Catted X with flows sound okay.

I was told though.. that our factory pipes vs aftermarket catted pipes are not much difference at all but I wanted to hear it from other people that actually have them.

Also, I am looking for a louder exhaust but NOT too burbal/raspy like some I have heard on the 4.6's. I do like loud, hear your coming from the down the road, set off car alarms in Walmart parking lot loud. lol.. like my old 5.0's used to do. ;)

I personally would not run a X Pipe with flowmasters (especially o/r). If you want to keep the flows I'd recommend a prochamber or even a H pipe. As far as power gains, usually 6-10hp are usual when switching to any o/r midpipe from the factory peice. The difference between an X, H or prochamber is so minimal that your best bet is to buy the one that fits your sound preference.

O/R pipes are going to pop and gurgle more than stock, but will be much louder. A mid pipe with highflow cats will be a quieter and a little smoother than an o/r pipe. You can also smell the exhaust fumes when running o/r pipes.

From my expereinces:

X = loud, aggressive and known to be raspy
H = more muscle car sounding and deeper/throatier than an X but not as loud or aggressive sounding
Prochamber = Deepest, smooth sounding and the quietest of the 3

O/R pipes and certain mufflers also creat a sound known as trumpeting and many folks frown upon that sound. Resonators or high flow cats help get rid of the trumpeting.

Just some of my thoughts, good luck on your purchase.

I ran a bassani x with flowmasters and it sounded mint!!!! But the only issue is and its mainly because im boosted is that i blew 2 sets of cats. Our cars with stock or aftermarket cats dont get along.

I think u should def do this!!! I now have a full bassani exhaust and u can't compare

Yeah that's a very good deal for a midpipe with cats! Get it and give it a shot, you may like it. X-pipes with cats are more giving as far as being mated with a chambered muffler. If you don't like the sound you can resell it or change to a different muffler someday...

I don't know if this applies to only cars with headers as well, but be careful of x-pipes (catted) with chambered mufflers (some Flows, MACs). I loved the sound till I put headers and a catted x pipe on and now it sounds a little too raspy or tinny around 2k rpms.

I'm in the same boat man. I had 3 5.0's with full exhuast and I miss the sound over my new ride. Honestly, an H is the way to go with our cars.

it does not come with hangers. mine didnt and it doesnt move at al once its bolted up in placel. You will def like how it sounds. Def should tune for it too so you will get a better air/fuel flow. Looks like they welded the cats on too. I would buy some race tubes for it just in case the cats blow but seeing how ur not boosted it shouldn't be an issue. Good find!

I wouldn't worry about the hangers. There is actually a TSB to remove them. I cut mine off to get rid of a vibration noise that I was getting. 08+ don't even get them from the factory.
