Finally replaced the milk-crate-full-of-rocks that the old mailbox post was sitting in. The old pole was starting to lean back quite a bit, so a new mounting solution was needed.
We liked being able to move the mailbox since in the winter our Speedy McPlowmaster plow driver likes to take out as many mailboxes as he can after every storm, so we pull it back a few feet to try to keep his score lower.
New mount is still movable, now a painted 5-gallon bucket, a bunch of drain holes in the bottom and along the bottom perimeter, a bunch of rocks and a nice new aromatic ceded mount:
(I transferred the old mailbox and the reflectors from the old mount)
Between the wife and I we got our raised garden beds ready for the new season and she got them planted yesterday.
Gonna have zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, and a few other things growing there.
We also set up a water timer to water the beds every morning through soaker hoses.
Also had to re-do a bit of plumbing in the basement.
The water spigot on the side of the house had gone bad over the winter (it was draining toward the house instead of outward, so it froze and went to shit).
New spigot properly leaning, the inside Shark bite connectors weren't enjoying the new angle, and one of them had developed a small leak.
Ended up using some Pex tubing, cut back the pipe so I can have a longer run of Pex, McGyver'd some fittings that I soldered some connectors to so I could fully engage pipe pieces into the remaining Shark bite fittings, and tested with no leaks.
My first time dealing with Pex, and I'm sold, I love it.
Fuck soldering, I'm done with that shit.
