What have you done to your mustang today?

Sweet so I had to redo the plasti dip on one set of rims and somehow I managed to screw the job up. I substituted painter's tape for 3x5 cards and when I peeled the tape off it also managed to pull some of the dip off the edge of the rim. I used a razor blade to trim it as I went but it wasn't enough.

Not sure if the mistake was using the painter's tape or spraying too much dip along the outer edge of that rim. Sucks. Can't bring myself to take the wheels back off and rip it all off again. PITA.

You can't peel the tape with dip. It isn't like regular paint. Use a plastic razor or a regular one and be careful.

The tape was not over any surface of the rim including that edge. It was up against it down near the gap where the tire meets the rim edge. Since the dip got sprayed along the edge of the rim and also over the tape near that edge it stuck to the tape. Instead of simply separating as I removed the tape it wanted to come off as one piece.

Didn't have that issue with 3x5 cards. Kinda disappointing. It's not the end of the world but that stuff won't last long now since it's peeling and it'll end up having to be redone soon.

From the vids I have seen for applying plastidip to rims, there is no mention of using any tape for masking off the tire. They don't even take the wheel off the car.

Installed KR springs, KR struts/shocks and a BMR adjustable panhard bar. Got the rear end centered perfectly.

I don't trust that method. Overspray might be a problem and you'll never get the lugwells done evenly. Have to come off for a perfect application.

Just spray / touch-up where you peeled it off by mistake. Whatever will get onto the tires, if you spray it thick enough, will peel off fairly easily

Took the wheels off and did a satisfactory fix for the peeling plasti dip on the rim edge. I improvised and used post-it notes instead of index cards. Came out decent enough I'm not going to redo them yet.

Now need to take the car for a test drive and at some point this week figure out what to set the speedometer at to account for the taller tire. Right now they're sitting at 26 psi.

Got the new tires mounted on the new wheels and installed. Tried to install the front coilover conversion and that was a big fail. The perch keeps the spring seat from going all the way down, and with it down as far as it would go it was stock height at best. So I guess I'll be looking for a different setup. Wheels look awesome at least...

Got my belt on the pulleys, had to remove the OEM tensioner and grind off the stopper ear and of course the fudger slides right on... Installed charge air cooler and made sure all the new rubber hose weren't going to rub on the pulleys

Thanks all.. I really hoped for a black interior, but an 85k mile well documented, always garaged, almost original fox doesn't come along every day and the gray interior is immaculate - seats look and feel new, no "ghetto lean" ash tray even works. The only mechanical problem with the car is the heater core started leaking so it's bypassed. Pretty common issue with these cars and honestly we don't need the heat often here in SoCal
