Doesn't it seem kind of weird you can't even give away a stock 14 gt500 TB but one that is like 7mm larger costs 600 bucks lol?

A new cast costs R&D. Everyone asked why DoB's CNC blower manifold was so expensive, too. Ever paid for a CNC machine? Stock parts are already mass produced. Take-offs/replacement parts are almost always readily available. Aftermarket that creates a new part that isn't stock-modified will always carry a fatter price tag. For a PD car, an extra 7mm may be worth $600 in power gains.

I don't know how they make TB's as inexpensive as they are and make money. Those are a lot of work/have a lot of parts.

Do you really think ford is still paying off their manufacturing equipment that makes the cobra jet throttle bodies? Lol come on

Eh maybe for the little guys out there but I'd say this is more of a low demand so high price situation.

Accufab makes the FRPP TB's.

There would be a one time tooling/jig cost and you're correct, that was paid for long ago. But even with that paid off the cost to produce one of them is nowhere near inexpensive. There is a lot of production time in each TB. That will never change.

Yeah. On sale!

Hot tip is to find some flanged hex drive stainless screws to put it on with. It ships with unflanged bolts which will chew up the finish on the TB. I believe these sorts of fasteners are availabl as specialty parts for motorcycles, the guys at my local bolt supply house weren't interested in ordering me any so I have washers on there for now.

a half the cost you pay in just the electronics, ie the bbk unit is what 300ish vs frpp and accufab ect all come with electronics installed and are 600ish. really doesn't seem to unreasonable from the old 2v cars which was all mechanical no sensors, a single blade except for the dohc cars.

I wonder if I can port out a gt500 TB to the VMP specs. Just need to make new blades to fit. Hmm going to look into it. Hard to say how much stock is on this thing.

Those electronics are only a few bucks to FRPP.

The VMP twin 67mm is a bargain vs the FRPP twin 65mm...(cost less, better quality, more surface area). Compared to an oem twin 60mm from the GT-500, the twin 67mm is 25% more surface area. The frpp twin 65 is only 17% bigger than the twin 60.

On a similar note the FRPP twin 62mm is 27% bigger than the oem twin 55mm tb...on the 05-10 cars.

If ur going to go bigger, go at least 25% bigger. The FRPP twin 65mm is huge $$ for a minimal 17% increase in surface area.

Having said that, VMP was getting 650 rwhp from his GT-500...with the oem twin 60mm tb.

Surface area doesn't necessarily equal flow.
