I'm just curious, there's no problem with my car.
Why does the battery have a "blanket" around it? It looks like an insulating wrapper.
Is it to protect the battery from heat under the hood?
Or is it to keep the battery warm in colder weather?
I can't see if there's any electrical connector to the blanket. (?)
None of my previous cars had this item.
Thanks.

It's to insulate it from the heat under the hood. This prolongs the battery's life.
It also helps if you buy a battery that's a lighter colour than black because that absorbs less heat.
