will i be ok ? going to track tommorow

i am planning on going to the track tommorow. i am running a 100 shot of nitrous . i totally forgot i needed to gap my hto plugs. i have been running the plugs for a month now and they are set the size they came. i think they are .45. i have ran it with the way it is and the nitrous and it ran perfect . i took them out and checked them and they looked good. so my question is will i be ok running these with the 100 shot? i do have a tune specific for the 100 shot.

Prettysure the Zex manual said to gap the plugs from .035 to .045, so you should be fine...if anything it retards timing further than at .035...I think.

So... you forgot to gap them when you put them in, then the car ran fine but the gap still made you worried so you took the plugs back out to check them... Why didn't you regap them when you checked them or at least see what the actual gap is?

You should be fine with a zex 100 shot. The fact that they are HT0s vs HT1s is good enough for the 100 shot. Run good gas to.

your most likely gonna burn the tips off the tops of a few plugs on a 100 shot,drop to a 75 and you should be fine.youll know when you do because going down the track your car will surge in and out from 2nd on

Don't cut corners with the spray in any area. Make sure you have a good tune, window switch, fire extinguisher, and oh yeah...drag radials.

well i just pulled my plugs . and sadly found the drivers side front plug electrode was burnt off. all the other plugs looked great. so did it burn just because it wasnt gapped right or is it something else? im thinking its just my stupididty for not gapping them correctly.

What gas did you use and what was your total timing at WOT?

I told you to use good gas. Gapping the plug will just prevent it from breaking up on the top end. Melting an electrode is detonation or lack of fuel (lean).

100 shot ZEX?

I ran Texaco"Kangaroo store" last night and my trap speed was down 1.5 - 2 mph. had best luck with Chevron gas by far. I will never use that gas again for the track.It's good for mpg and that's it.

Chevron's additive is the bomb.....Techron. It's patented, and Shell/Exxon/BP only wish they could come up with something like it. The Shell hype about nitrogen in the gas is just that...hype. Chevron's gas has had nitrogen in it for 20 years! I met the guy whose name is on the Techron patent...this is the fuel that BMW, MB and other top manufactureres are recommending for the new direct injection engines, because only the Techron can keep the 15,000 to 25,000 psi injectors clean.

I didn't freaking know that. I have run Shell religously since I bought the car. Always heard it was the best. Nest fill up will be with 93 Chevron

Before I learnd this, I ran Shell V-Premium for the car's first 10k miles, and right at 10k started having ping (detonation). Freeaked me out, and went back to stock, though I had an unusual engine that did not tolerate timing. Then I switched to Chevron at the suggestion of another forum member, and within 1000 miles (4 tank-fulls), I was able to run the advanced timing again with no issues, and the same happened with the Z71 truck I bought for my 16 yr old...I don't know what fuel they ran for the trucks first 60k miles, but it wasn't Chevron. Switched to Chevron and also added a bottle of Techron to get the cleaning going, and no ping anynore on the truck. I would consider running Chevron with Techron a pre-requisite to sprayiung NOS, just for the added safety of having clean combustion chambers as well as clean intake valves.
The techie at Chevron that developed Techron told me Shell's additive does a decent job of cleaning intake valves (which is what Shell shows in their commercials), but that the Shell gas-additive actually creates deposits in the combustion chamber. These deposits then become hot-spots during the combustion process, which promotes ping/pre-ignition/detonation.
