I don't think he needs an iPhone or camcorder recording to hear his own car. :)

Yea..actually it sounded worse in person. My shitty iphone made it sound little better in the video LOL So I had to buy a set of cats and welded in. Sounds much better now but too quiet. I really wanna get some O/R H pipe.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not used to having to go back and search for a particular post that was quoted without a reference. That vid does not sound "raspy" or "nascar-ey" (a sound which does not exists by the way, obviously penned by someone that has never even been to a cup race, all of the cars sound different).

Long ago, a S197 basher on mustangforums.com decided to refer to x-pipes on an s197 as raspy. Those without a clue accepted that as gospel and began associating "x-pipe" with "raspy" when they have no clue as to what "raspy" actually sounds like.

Raspy:

What? I always heard x pipe with straight through mufflers sounds raspy with no tone. How about h pipe with straight throughs?

What I had always heard and for the most part agree with is with a chambered muffler, X pipes typically sound like ass (and to me 90% of the time they do) But with a straight through muffler X pipes sound better.]

I dont think my Magnaflow X+Borlas are raspy at all. Really the only straight through muffler X pipe combo Ive heard in person that to me was pure rasp was SLP + SLP X pipe

The exhaust trends are funny to follow. When I first got into Mustangs about a decade ago, everyone hated "rasp" and ran Flowmasters and H-pipes for a "mellow and deep" sound.

Then people started worrying about "drone" and everyone ditched Flowmasters for other stuff, usually X-pipes and Borlas.

Then I heard people complaining about "trumpeting" (due to X-pipes if I remember correctly).

Looks like now we're back to rasp and H-pipes and Flows are coming back in fashion. :)

It's all personal preference, of course, but it's funny seeing it come full circle.

Its obviously just all an opinion. What one perceives as rasp another doesn't. To me the xpipe makes shit raspy and I like it! Once again, it obviously depends on the mufflers. I have heard xpipes with mufflers that sound deep and throaty without rasp. Don't ask me what setup that was because I don't remember. Fuck, idk what to say lol just find something that works for you!

This isn't directed at any one person, btw, I'm just talkin shit haha

Yep that's exactly what mine sounds like except for my exhaust leaks i need to get under there and fix lol. I like the way it sounds but I want something different already. I want something between the stock mufflers and the straight through shit. So looks like im gonna have to get another big ass muffler but just aftermarket.

I've been trying to listen to different full sized mufflers from borla to corsa and all in between but I just cant fuckin find one! I like the rasp that the straigh through shit gives but I need one that just isn't so dadgum loud
