Not true.

Boss 302s and Track Pack GTs have painted rears, all other V6/GT rears are unpainted. I have no idea about GT500s.

This is a 2013 GT with the Track Pack option.

There's a guy on here that did a thread on painting his rear axle housing. A PW GT/CS IIRC. It turned out great, but it sounded to me like a little too much work for the payoff. Mine isn't painted, but as long as my axle doesn't rust through, I'm good.

I enjoyed the project as I built up the rearend and suspension:
I used VHT epoxy paint. it's cheap and a solid epoxy paint.

I noticed this on mine after I first bought my GT. Called a friend with a 2011 California Special and he said "yup, it sucks, for some reason they cheaped out and didn't paint them."

I'll keep mine "rust brown" for now, seems like alot of work for not much gain. Still though, Ford should have done this.

Put the '13 on the lift Saturday to change the exhaust and I couldn't believe my eyes at how rusty the rear end was. You'd think they would paint this stuff from the factory?? Oh well, I guess I know what my next project is!
