so you're saying that air-air is better for humid climate?or no

Not 'better', I'm just saying that the air to air is not as big an issue relating to IAT's in more humid and colder climates.

If I was in a humid or colder climate, I personally would probably do small twins. Again, not that any are 'better' than the other - just different issues for different conditions.

But I stand by that in my neck of the woods, I would not do any sort of air to air cooling for a daily driver.

So in the sw and maybe up the west coast you think water to air is better and the rest of the country air to air would be better ?

Damnit!! NO...lol:roflmao:

I'm saying in the other parts of the country that have higher water grains in their air it makes a difference in the air to air cooling systems being slightly more efficient for them versus their system in our climate.

Actually porsche has dumped air cooling for water cooling since 2001...:beerdrink:

Even more interesting is their repair margins have dropped DRASTICALLY since 2001...

Thanks for the responses ChevyKiller and everyone else. Some interesting points made back and forth. I guess I'll have to do some more research on single turbos and heating issues. Is heat wrapping or jet coating effective ways of reducing heat? Or will they not make much of a difference if I can't get the a/a temp down? I'll look into the meth inj as well. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Most turbo companies Jet Hot their stuff anyways. It helps a ton in keeping heat down

Then again.....if you mount the turbos down low around the transmission your underhood temps don't rise at all.

so you think a turbo setup would work better in utah? i live not to far from dex and have no objections to a turbo what so ever just wonder what your thoughts are on that? how do you think a dd turbo vr. sc would fair?

Honestly if you live at altitude I would do a turbo. Since the BOV will maintain they set boost pressure.

With a SC you would have to run a smaller pulley to make up for the thinner air.

On a personal note I put about 16k miles a year on my Whipple HO with 0 issues. I have had it on over a year. I have 0 belt issues but I do have a thumprr tensioner so that helps alot.

The only maintenace I know of, is that I check to make sure the intercooler pump is working everyonce and a while by popping the hood. Whipple states the sc oil should be changed every 100k miles so there is that :roflmao:.

The only knock I have for turbo's is that when you beat on the car you need to let them cool properly, so something like a turbo timer is necessary.

Honestly any kit would work IMO. Just keep the boost to 10psi or less and keep up with general maintenance.

I let my car idle for 3-5 minutes after I drive anywhere. A turbo timer would be helpful. they are only $100

Interesting point. Sorry to hijack, but does anyone have experience with a remote starter/turbo timer? Any recommendations? I think it'd be great for my black GT in the hot AZ summers to get the ac going before I get in. Plus waiting in my car for +3 min doesn't sound like fun...
