Welded my axles tubes today. it is not a easy task when you only have jackstands. I did big tacks in the 12,3,6,9 o'clock positions. then welded between the 12 and 3 o'clock position then went to the opposite side 6 and 9. Then the rest, went as smooth as possible without a lift.

Any risk of boiling the fluid if you don't drain it first before welding?

Aren't you supposed to wrap the weld to keep it from cooling too quickly?

Yes sir, its a good practice to do it on cast and certain times when doing aluminum. I did wrapped mine but i dont hear about others doing it, and theres being ok.

Mine were welded on the car and fluid in the diff. . Had a leak on C-clip eliminator and had to pull one axle to fix the leak. Nothing disturbing on the inside from the welding that I saw.

What? You don't need both.

Better safe than sorry right? Being that I have a stick car, I plan to race a decent amount, and I am a worry wart when it comes to weak points in the rearend, plus in other cars I have broke a few already...just want to keep it from breaking as much as possible

You must be a government employee, I think. Your position makes absolutely no sense at all. More isn't always better.

I say not both because you don't need both. But its your car and you've had bad experiences before so do you. Probably won't hurt anything other than your wallet.
