Not that I'll be able to make an east coast trip, but how do these two classes even fit into an "NA" shootout?

Don,

The only reason the power adder classes were brought up is because when I was on the phone with Mike at 5.0 magazine he wanted to see a power adder class as well. Also, they want a shelby class too. I was just trying to get some magazine coverage. I think it is definately needed and deserved if this is pulled off.

I talked to Mike again tonight and he is suggesting that this is held in April at Cecil County on the same day as Superstallions of the net day at Cecil. This way it would be a all mustang affair. Obviously, the shootout would only be open to the 05 and up crowd. I too, have no problem sitting in on a committee to get this thing to happen.

Marc and I briefly discussed on the phone tonight about piggybacking onto an existing event as a way to jump start the first S197 shootout--we'll add that to our list of growing "to-do's", and throw in questions about insurance given this adds a competitive mini-event into that particular day. I know JDM inserted an S197 event into a regular race day last summer, I think at Cecil as well. I'm trying to get some info on how that was accomplished...

Sounds like a good idea. I would like to sit in on this board as well. Lets see if we can get Scott (2k05gt) to host... Scott?

I say this, because if we are going to rent an MD track, we should HQ in or around MD. Esp if we are going to have to visit the track to workout logistics.

I can Host, I am 8 minutes from I-95 and have plenty of room,
I have a Conference speaker phone and VOIP phone so Long distance is not an issue.

I have a business relationship with Sprint. I am going to see if I can get a phone bridge on Monday. That will make conf calls a lot easier.

Yep. We can also think about piggybacking on an existing RACE event as it might be more straightforward insurance-wise.

John
True, Test and Tunes have you sign a waiver, problem is that they tend to get crowded. I would prefer if we piggyback on an event that it's a smaller one like COOTC. It would be eaiser to control our own group events. So I am in or looking in to Insurance...

there are several Single day event insurance companies we can check into. when we get together we can go over the insurance companies. BTW The Tracks will always have racers sign a waiver, so the insurance is to protect the Event committee.
