That setup seems way legit. I think I understand but anyone have actual pics of it installed?

Looks like a check valve. $120 for that is kinda steep... I can do my entire pcv system just for that price.

So to me $140.00 seems cheap
I know it may actually be a glorified PCV system.
But I have wasted more money on other stupid shit

From what I found eveyone is all over the board on this.
Some use just breathers some use combinations Yada Yada

SO what do they use on the 650 HP GT500 , or the 750 HP Super snake?
I need to follow up on that as well, that may give some insight

At the end of the day I dont want oil smell in the car.
And I dont want seals or gaskets compromised.

I completely understand that but what seems to not be considered is that v8's make much less psi than smaller engines. You can see rotary engines at 40psi and some modded 4 bangers. 10-20 psi is not that much when you take into consideration the ammount of boost some cars run. For example a stock evo runs 20-21 psi.

Unmetered didn't seem to be a problem. I made some other changes at the same time as I did the PCV setup and had it retuned with the new setup. Everything was fine and the car drove great, no more oil smell and plenty of breather capacity at WOT.

I didn't get to drive it very long as I had the phaser problem and fire, so the car is down right now. Here a couple of pics but the lines really don't show up very well.

Drivers side with catch can and line running to forward catch can.

I actually have 2 sets of the Krankvent Mini kit. I have one in the line from the drivers side cover to the intake, with a catch can. I also have one in a line that runs from a #10 bung on the drivers side to a breather catch can. The one going to the intake only allows flow into the intake and the one from the bung only allows flow out to the catch can. I was running 2 lines on the passenger side, stock and #10 bung, to a catch can. When I get it back together I am not installing a bung in the pass side and I am only going to run the pass side stock vent to a breather catch can with a Krankvent that only allows flow out.

This will give me a closed system for normal operation, so no oil smell and good ring seal with a vacuum in the crankcase but still allow crankcase pressure to escape under boost. I wont have as much blowby with the new engine so I didn't think I would need the #10 line on the pass side that I was running. I think the new setup will be everything I am looking for on my car.

So you are using the $110 kit? Smaller of the 2 on the driver side and larger of the 2 on the passenger side?

I'm actually using a smaller one on the line to the intake and the larger one on the #10 line on the drivers side. On the pass side I am going to use the larger one on the line from the stock vent to the breather can.

Earl has discoverd a new way to vent; he uses a hole in the passenger side valve cover itself!!!!

I thought you had seen my post about the fire. I had the spring on the pass side phaser come loose, amongst other things, it got under the chain and made that side jump time then it knocked that chunk out of the cam cover which sprayed oil all over everything. The resulting fire got interesting for a while.

This is why I am rebuilding the engine. When it jumped time it bent all the valves on that side and the pistons didn't like it either. I highly recommend not to run the Comp Cams phaser limiters with the newer versions of the phasers. With the width of the Comp limiter I don't think the bolts come through far enough to hold the spring in place with the new designs. My spring came loose but the reluctor was still attached to the cam gear. The tools Comp send you don't even work with the new design phasers.

I ordered 4 of these McMaster-Carr valves # 7775K6, ($91)also ordered 2 JLT cans. Planning to add valves from the intake to the valve covers to allow vacuum but cut off boost, these will also have the JLT cans in line to not allow the oil vapor to pass. The other 2 valves will go between the valve covers and the breather tank.

@ idle the breather tank valves will be closed shut to create more vacuum and to not allow fumes to escape from the crankcase.the intake valves will be open to allow vacuum to pull from the crankcase.

@ boost the breather tank valves will be pushed open to allow pressure to be vented. The intake valves will close so the boost will not enter the crankcase

4 valves and 2 breathers may be overkill? I may add a nipple in line on one of the valves to log actual crank case pressure!

I also still have my ACDelco electric pump that pulls vacuum at 2psi......but I'm hopping I can remove that!
