XXR 521's

The other thing I'm looking at as a possibility to 'hide' the fact that so much rim/tire would sit outside the wheel well is these small fender flares/lips. It's still going to require that the wheel roll into the wheel well but might hide it (or make it more obvious). They come in 5mm, 10mm and 20mm.

What is that? Do you have pictures of other cars with it on?

I found them on ebay doing a search. The name of the manufacturer is JP Vizage. I didn't come up with a lot of them on google. This seems to be one of the only vendors for them.

Price seems pretty steep for a trim kit. Wondering if you could achieve the same effect with these painted black.

Would think it couldn't be too hard to paint those. Stainless steel. Just need to be properly prepped.

Wonder if they could they be bodyworked into the fender? At that cost, you could probably do the axle narrowing idea though.

Yeah, blend, paint match, etc. No wheel is worth that much. Shit, at that point it would probably be better to contact the manufacturer and have them custom make rims for you.

Most rep wheel company's will do it on a 30 set pre-order.

That's why I'm a little worried about the pre-order I have in place for the xxr 531's. My concern is that they will base making them on the pre-order and it won't happen.

careful with those badboys. once you start with fender flares, the next thing you know your door jambs, mudflaps, logos, windows, wheels, car, life etc. are chromed out.


seriously though, the jp vizage ones remind me of bmw x5 flares (which I actually like--on that car at least). the shape of them looks cooler than the chrome set you found on ebay


i want to try a set (since i poke a little) but: 1. that doesn't necessarily make things fit better if they'll still rub on a fender, and 2. $350-400 is definitely steep for some trim pieces.

Yeah. They look decent enough but you are still stuck with the issue of having to roll the tire. It makes it look less obvious but it won't improve anything since you can roll the tire any further out. Fender is still where it was.

I apologize I misspoke, the tires have never rubbed the fender, front or rear, they just rub the plastic on the inner fender well when it steered clear to the lock one way or the other. After driving it a few days, I haven't seen any wear on the plastic yet, so I guess it's not too bad.

With the offset and the tire size I don't think so. He'd probably have to go with a narrower tire. Those wheels should be about 15mm outside the edge of the wheel well.

i hope they decide to come out with a mustang application for those fender lips just to see what they look like. if anyone wanted to pull their fenders just a little, the flares could add a finishing touch that may clean up the look

False! Lol to each his own really. This wheel and tire combo just looks funny to me with so much gap. For me personally there is no such thing as too low. If you can still drive it normally and not scrape ever it needs lowered.

Haha. Well, I've done that in the past and that shit gets old when it's a daily driver. That said, I might switch to the Eibach's next year to bring it down further on mine. Right now I'm just running a 1/1.5. I do think his car with the 521's would look better lower but there is just no way with the offset on those rims unless he really rolls the tire.

Those are just generic lips so they should work fine on a Mustang. I'm thinking pulling the lip and applying those would make it even worse as you would no longer have a flat surface but an angled surface to attach them too. I wouldn't trust the 3M in the long run.

I doubt they will unless they possibly see enough interest in all the new offsets in the 531's. Would love it if they would have produced the 521 in a 9.5" +35 instead of just the 10" +30. Even though I'm getting the 531's I still think the 521 looks better on our cars (of course I haven't actually seen a Mustang with the 531's). I feel like the outer rivets give the impression to the eye that the rim is larger. I worry that the stepped lip without rivets of the 531 will make the rim look even smaller.
