Awesome job Bill, one question, any specific reason (that you can maybe share) why you chose a '10 instead of older cars or it is just by chance that is the car you had on hand?

For this event we're using frpp adjustable struts. There is actually a spec shock package required made by AST USA but they aren't available yet. Technically no one in the class is legal but we should be the closest. It won't make a difference until nationals in the fall.

Clutch and shifter are both stock. We actually did some research and believe it's the best option for us right now. That could always change though.

We chose a '10 for several reasons. The biggest was probably that it shares doors, fenders, bumpers, etc with our current cars. There is not a competitive advantage in the 10 over the 05-09.

Wow, talk about a tight schedule...

I'll have to drop by and check the car out at some point this weekend. I'm curious to see how competitive it is with so little prep time, even though you guys have a lot of experience with S197s.

We're probably 70-75% done right now. Our lead mechanic is going to town right now trying to get as much done before it gets loaded at 2:30pm.
Anything else will be finished at the track, if needed.

There are a couple more pics, and quite a few comments on our facebook page as well

Nice. Have you thought about making that a "page" instead of a "person?" I have some privacy concerns with adding those kinds of "friends" since it distributes a lot of my personal content to people I don't know due to FBs wonky privacy settings.

It's really old, and we've never converted it. Probably will leave it as is until FB tells us otherwise.

Car is nearly complete. They are just finishing up a few things as I type. We're a little behind our time to leave, but the truck isn't ready to load either way.

I find it curious that you guys installed the strut tower brace. Have you found any quantifiable gains from using one?

It's very hard to really measure something like this. It's a spec part for the class though, and we have them. Some of our cars run them, but most do not.

A couple people have asked about following the race. If you go to the NASA great lakes website, they have live scoring and timing.

It sounds like we're running the Spec Iron car (#9), American Iron (#03 or #031), and possibly American Iron Extreme (#59). We'll also be out in TT and HPDE-3.
