I don't think they've hit the track yet, but their crewman/new driver is getting initiated...

They qualified on pole for CMC2 and there time would have put them in 5th for AI. Saw this via Facebook post.

Set the spec iron track record for mid-ohio and won the SI event. A very good weekend that saw our guys on the podium several times in several classes.

Great Job!

You should write an article, "48 Hours to Victory!"

That's not a terrible idea. The team took the day off today after being gone all weekend. All and all we took 2 poles, 2 wins, and set 1 course record this weekend.

I would love to sit down and do a full article on what goes in to one of our builds. Something like this actually diminishes the amount of time into one of our cars. The Moonpie grand-am car took over a month to complete.

Thanks!

A little more info from this weekend. On Sunday, they ran Spec Iron with AI and ST2. In that race, we beat out all the American Iron, Spec Iron cars and at one point lead the overall. Had a car not spun in front of us we would have taken the overall. Instead we came in second overall to a ST2 car. Not bad for "slowest class" on the track.

We also ran the 3 hour Enduro on Friday w/ our Moonpie Grand-Am car. We won our class, and finished 2nd overall.... to a DP car (Daytona Prototype).

Quite a bit of talent you guys have with you! Awesome results and especially impressive results with the 48 hour spec iron car. Not bad at all.

I can't say I'm too surprised you would lose out to a Daytona prototype. Those things are fast. How close was it?

10 laps... lol. Those cars are insane. They make almost 2x the power as us, and weigh roughly half of what our cars weigh. It's lopsided to say the least.

How did you remove the sound deadening? Looks like you may have a more efficient method than others I've seen.

Heat gun, torch, and scraper. It takes time, but once you've done 60-70 cars like this it comes easy. One guy sits in the car for about an hour just scraping away.

Awesome build in an amazing time frame! I'm definately jealous. NASA announced this class only a few weeks after I purchased my brand new '13 GT. It's probably a good thing, but I may have to jump in on this class in a year or two. It looks like too much fun!!

Just saw the Moon Pie car on Speed!!! It was at an Atlanta event. So cool! Freaked everyone at my table at BWW out when I showed them the car in the forum!
