...what does that even mean?

How are they at the "expense" of performance if they make better numbers than stock. You said the CMS max out the stock springs at .470, right? The Hot Rods are also 12mm, or .472 inches.

You go back and forth in your argument. First you say you'll get power gains, now you're saying it's made for sound at the EXPENSE of performance.

Fact of the matter is in the same N/A car, same dyno, same conditions, I highly doubt your CMS cams would make more than 5-10rwhp more than the Hot Rods. IMO, the sound is worth the 5-10 potential hp - that's not ricer. Pulling a vacuum line to have a "lope" at idle is ricer.

Don't waste your time my friend. He's trolling...

This from Cushman Motor Sports:

Finally CMS Cams for you 3V guys! Stage 1 N/A offer great power gains and work with stock springs. 1200-6200 rpm. Tune suggested. Best with 3.73+ gears & 2400+ stall. Noticeable idle for the Hot Rod sound!

.472"/.470" lift, 225/237 .050" duration, 112LSA

This from Ford Racing:

Increases lift from the stock 11 mm/0.433" to 12 mm/0.472"
Intake / exhaust duration of 221 / 240 degrees (@ 0.050" lift), lobe separation of 110 degrees

The only difference is a few degrees of duration and 2 degrees of lsa. It's pretty much a Hot Rod cam with a little more lsa. I wonder if the centerline is the same?

Isn't this pretty much what Brenspeed did with the Detroit Rockers? They kept almost everything the same as Mutha Thumpers except added 10 degrees of duration on the intake?

When I was growing up ricer meant a Japanese motorcycle.

Been running Hot Rods since they first came out, full exhaust, short tubes, all bolt on I can throw at it and made 345 to the wheels. Tuned by Dyno Tune. Never been told it a ricer sound or mod, only been told it sounds amazing. Lots of Old School motor heads comment on the sound and yes you can make power with the Hot Rods, Rockers, or Comps. I'm not trying to have the fastest, most HP. or 1/4 mile times here. I'm happy with what I have and did it for me not anyone else. Long story short, I love my cams and the sound they help make!!!!

i know this is months old, but can you dumb this down a little for me? i was really looking at either the comp stage 2 nsr's or the detroit rockers. any chance you know how these two compare? i was under the impression (not sure where i got this in my head) that brenspeed tweaked the 127200's, not the mutha thumprs

I can't remember where I got the information from so you will have to look it up to verify. More than likely I compared published data.

I do know that the 127200 isn't going to have much lope. It's basically a 127300 with less lift.

i am fine with less sound and more power. although the sound is nice but only as a byproduct not as a sacrifice for me.

i have done a lot of searching with little to no "answers". i can find some specs on their blower grind but nothing on their na grind.

Hot Rods, long tubes, and a good tune should net you 330rwhp or so. Are Hot Rods on your list of choices?

they were, but was thinking the 127200's or DR's would yield more gains, again, not sure where i come up with these things lol. i also have pacesetter LT's.

Almost all of the entry level cams make the same peak power, the biggest difference is the power curve and useable powerband, also how they respond to power adders (nitrous/FI). The 010, 020, 030 from comp are far right bands with flat curves. The 100, 200, 300 are mid-right bands with peakier curves. They also respond better to power adders (but not as well as the "50's" series, which are ground on the purpose of being FI). IMO the 020/030 has a more pure N/A cam profile than even the biggest 600 series. Tight LSA, lots of overlap and exhaust duration. If they made one with bigger lift and more of the above, it would look a lot like the stage 3 MHS 2v N/A cam, which is a badass cam! (If you can afford a high compression wish I could use those cams in a trickflow built motor!)... for a 2v...

I have Detroit rockers and I'd go for hot rods, if I did it again. The hot rods are almost exactly similar from what I've seen. I think the Detroit rockers have like 2 lsa difference from the hot rods, or I read that somewhere. I wouldnt take my word for it though :lol2:

I was unable to find set in stone centerline info for my 127020's until I emailed comp and they sent me the "at rest" numbers (engine off, no oil pressure). I'm degreeing mine now and hope to be back at the dyno soon to see if my suspicions are correct.
