I honestly don't know. My MT82 car has 3.73 gears right now, I would 99.9% guarantee it would go slower in the 1/4 by swapping to a Magnum.

Different car but similar situation, my brother had a '95 GT. He swapped the T5 out for a T56 (Viper spec with the double overdrive) and lost over half a second in the 1/4.
I've been considering this swap because I know I'm losing over half a second right now due to me not beating on the tranny as hard as I could/should because I don't want to break the stock stuff. But, I also realize (like you) that part of what makes the Coyote so potent is the fact that the tranny is geared so well (both manual and auto). But I figured adding a rear gear would do the trick.

run 4.30's with the Magnum XL and it would be very close to the same ratios as a MT82
I was thinking along those lines (N/A)...or even a 4:56

It's a good idea but for road course work make sure you have a differential cooler setup. Those deep gears will make a lot of heat causing temps to skyrocket and blow out axle seals and wear diff and gears prematurely.
I run 3.55s and a Torsen and see 270 if I don't turn on the cooler pump during 25 minute sessions. With the cooler running I get235-240 temps.

Drag racers don't have to worry.

I can beat the guts out of this trans and it begs for more so far. First thing to break in a stock m-82 is the plastic shift fork pads. I no longer have plastic ones.

Kung Fu, I hammer the snot out of mine on the track without problems. IMO, it's a pretty tough trans. Even when mine was whining it took it like a champ. I've seen it torn down, the parts are pretty beefy looking.

Don't get me wrong, I like the trans. But between the horror stories online, and a few people I know in person who have had problems, I just don't want to risk it since this is my daily driver, yknow?

I will more than likely look into buying a used/broken one and contact Adam @ Revolution and see what he can do

Would like to see more on this - do you have a link?

I know that the 'record' was 10.02 for the longest time.

I will tell u what...I'm seriously considering doing this to my trans. Its a good option for guys who have shifter, driveshaft, n clutch already for the mt-82. U said revolution right?

For cost reasons no I didn't. Magnum is way to salty for me.

What kindof shifter setup are you running? MGW? I don't have any issues out of my stocker yet, but it does seem to make "catching" noises into second and fourth just driving normal. Makes me uneasy and I'd like to get it nipped before soemthing bad happens, i may look into buying one that has 2cd or something messed up and send it off to this fellow. Did he recommend a certain fluid? clutch line upgraded?

thanks for you help.
