I've been considering this swap because I know I'm losing over half a second right now due to me not beating on the tranny as hard as I could/should because I don't want to break the stock stuff. But, I also realize (like you) that part of what makes the Coyote so potent is the fact that the tranny is geared so well (both manual and auto). But I figured adding a rear gear would do the trick.I honestly don't know. My MT82 car has 3.73 gears right now, I would 99.9% guarantee it would go slower in the 1/4 by swapping to a Magnum.
Different car but similar situation, my brother had a '95 GT. He swapped the T5 out for a T56 (Viper spec with the double overdrive) and lost over half a second in the 1/4.
I was thinking along those lines (N/A)...or even a 4:56run 4.30's with the Magnum XL and it would be very close to the same ratios as a MT82
