Congrats Rob, glad to hear you completed the swap. Now the next time you have a vehicle that needs a clutch you can say to yourself "That's no big deal, I can do that myself."

No, if anyone tells you that- ignore any advice from them. You do NOT need a manual PCM. I am using my automatic pcm and automatic wire harness. The only thing that does not work is the cruise control, but I think I could figure that out if I cared enough. I never used the cruise control to begin with so I am not bothering with it now. When you do the swap with retaining the automatic pcm/harness, as stated above in my thread you have to rewire reverse lights and speedo. That is the one disadvantage of going that route (but it is extremely easy to do), well that and potential tuning issues if the tuner is not able to get it done right (like my original tuner).
Does that mean, every time you tune your car, you have to have the data for a manual swap, or is it a one time thing? If you were ever to change tuners, wouldn't it be another headache?
Well I won't be changing tuners, but probably so. From what I've heard tuners have had the same issues with using manual harness as well. So I don't know. Just because you could buy a manual pcm n harness won't take away from the tuning complexity. If I understood some people right.
That I could not tell you, but I just was told by a few people/tuners that it wouldn't make tuning any easier. Who knows, maybe I misunderstood them?just out of curiosity if you swapped all that stuff over what would be the difference from a manual car coming from the factory?
I just heard that there wouldn't be a tuning issue with a manual PCM, but the harness would still have to be cut and everything to make the harness work. I am just going by what I have read on the internet, which isn't much.

Well a PCM is a PCM, whether it is auto or manual it's physically the same piece.. All they have to do is flash a manual strategy onto the PCM. As for the harness, I have heard that too, even with a manual harness /pcm pulled from a donor car that was originally manual, it would still have things like cruise control not working. I could be wrong, just what I heard though.
Little update
As of today, I have now put 850 miles on my new swap and she runs amazing! I have a new love for the car, since the transmission swap the street bike has gotten little to no love at all. LOL. It was on empty for the past 2 weeks of my car being done and I just filled it up last night.
Driving a stick is just so much fun. When I bought my car, Stick shift was a must on the list. I just think an Auto doesnt have the fun behide it like a stick shift has.
When I went mustang shopping, my must have list was
- Upgraded wheels
- Black leather + IUP
- 5spd manual
- Shaker 500
Bought a brand new 07 V6 Heat edition that had all the above except the wheels and when the car was delivered it didn't have ABS/TCS, F/S Airbags and other shit I paid for. After getting docked around at Ford, I returned the car and went elsewhere.
I came across my current 06 Premium GT that was sitting on the showroom floor and I got an amazing deal on it (it was the last brand new 06 they had since 07s just started rolling out..)
I got it at such a great prize, I said i'll take an automatic V8 with light graphite leather interior. Had everything else option wise so I was said v6 with stick or v8 auto. Not a hard choice lol..
Ended up buying brand new leather/floormats/carpet in black and swapping it out, and eventually my transmission. I ended up with exactly what I wanted lol. Just took a little longer.
Have you done any more research on what it would take to get the cruise control working?
