So pretty.

And this is what the tire shop did. After I asked if they could mount 315/35/20 tires.

Long story short their remedy was to pay another shop to mount them. I asked for a new wheel but the shop denied it because the damage is not visible once the wheel is mounted. I plan to ask the next shop if they think I should have the outer lip smoothed because I am worried about the tire holding air. Seeing red right now and really need to cool off a bit and vent.

That really blows. The tires will hold air fine though. It's the bead that seals it tight. If they would of fucked that surface, I'd say some gas cans through the window and some matches to light up the party would be in order...

Did you sign a damage waiver before they tried to mount them?

Unfortunately nothing was signed or exchanged. I called and showed a little before they closed and they went to work. Thing that really pisses me off is the two shit heads that were doing the work passed the wheels back to me and hoped I wouldn't notice.

And I made it a week without copenhagen, but after this crap I couldn't take it. So much for that New Year's Resolution.

Fortunate for you. You can take that to small claims and you will win hands down.:thumb:

While running service departments (motorcycles) I've had wheels get dinged up even just a little and every time it went to small claims the dealer paid.

When I opened my own dealer everyone signed a damage waiver. Or we wouldn't touch their wheels.

WTF kind of tire machine where they using? I used ot bust tires on a Corghi machine and that thing slapped tires on like butter. 315's where a breeze for that machine. Most any good machine for Coats, Hunter, etc. can mount those hoops with no issues. There machine must be dated. Eiether way, that sucks man...

I thought about that on the way home. I've heard it's a $25 fee to file and pretty simple. If I could make the two idiots that did the damage pay for it I certainly would, but I know if I go to court it will be the owner who will pay. He seemed like a decent guy and actually tried to work with me. I want to get a second opinion on how the damage looks from a reputable shop and I will go from there.

So sorry to hear that happen, I would be livid. Hope it gets sorted out and you get some kind of compensation.

I would only have the gouge on the lip repaired. The marks on the inside happen, And I would agree they are not visible .

This exact situation is why I'm afraid of having someone mount my new wheel/tire combo. I'd flip if that happened to my brand new wheels.

Sorry to see that man. That definitely sucks.

True story- I just paid $200 to have the tires mounted & balanced on my Forgelines. I went to a place here in town which specializes in exotic cars, mostly Porsches and Ferraris. I told the owner straight up that if he scratched my wheels, my head would explode. I have to say, they took really good care of me. I have a friend at the Firestone next to my gym who would've done the whole set for $50, but like I said... when you see a scratch in your new rims, you wanna kill everyone. I was hoping that paying the premium at the exotic car place would eliminate that possibility. So far it seems to have paid off. No new scratches and the wheels were balanced perfectly.

True story:

In 2002 I was the first person in the US to have a set of the new Marchesini forged magnesium wheels (motorcycle). I put the first set of tires on myself. After I ran those down (took about 40min on my first day of practice) I took them over to the Pirelli truck to have new rubber mounted. The took a huge gouge out of one rims 1/2 way around. and these are the race support factory guys. I was pissed.

After 5 hours of cooling off, watching the movie Neighbors to get a laugh, and reading stuff like this, mistakes happen. Still pissed the employees didn't want to disclose it, but gives a life lesson to check your stuff after it's been given it back. Going to see what the second shop says tomorrow and might take it to a wheel repair shop if need be. Hope to have some pics up as soon as I can.

I agree, it's not the end of the world. But man, those are some awful nice rimz. If it was me I would want to be the one to scratch them.:thumb:
