Exterior Entry, they need to redo the texture and paint the front entry. Cameras will be mounted after closing.

Nice, looking good! How come you didn't have put title or whatever you wanted instead of carpet? Cheaper if you do it on your own?

Yeah. Quite a bit cheaper.

I'm going to be adding a tile backsplash in the kitchen soon as we close. Gonna end up actually ripping up some tile, etc and having one of our guys go finish it up lol. We had them tile the wet areas in the tile we wanted but always planned to tile everything but the bedrooms. We buy our materials from the same place and the cost is about 300% cheaper for me to do it lol. I didn't feel like ripping everything up though and creating a huge mess in a brand new house so that's why we upgraded the tile in the wet areas to begin with. Here's a close up of the granite. Hoping my superintendent remembered to tell the granite guys to just barely put up the backsplash.

Thanks guys, we are ready to move! Only another two weeks and I'll probably be moving in.

Coming right along, man! Was there an issue with the texture out front?

Yeah the guy they had before quit and this new guy is pretty turrrible. He put a coat on it and left, it was so pathetic. I drove down to him at another house and told him no way was that acceptable. So he went down, sprayed some more, brushed it a little lol, still came out pretty bad. Think he's messed with it three times and it's only marginally better than originally.

It's crazy though, this development has two superintendents. I can guarantee the neighborhood has two totally different quality houses between who worked on which house. Luckily the guy who I was set to have never showed up for our FIRST appointment. Worst thing is he was an hour late and that was with me reminding him of the appointment. he completely forgot. He would of never showed! I told them I wanted the other superintendent after that and thankfully they did. So when stuff like this comes up I just let him know and it's fixed. It's been pretty stress free working with a good superintendent. It makes all the difference.

During framing my superintendent marked everything wrong with framing. It was quite a bit actually. I was surprised but it got taken care of no problem. However I have a friend is building the same model down the street, they got stuck with the other superintendent. Not one mark on the house, buyers walk through it and find some major stuff wrong lol. It's mind blowing how bad it is. I want to write the company to let them know what's going on because it's that bad.

Exactly like Kenairzer said. Here's my response from another forum talking about it.

I pay the same price for carpeting if I do one room or the whole house (minus wet areas) like I did. I actually got an upgraded carpet, too. The carpet isn't going to waste I'm putting it in another house lol. I own a flooring company and get the tile from the same supplier, got the same lot number even. So comparing my costs with paying an installer and the materials it's about half of what they charge and their installers don't have shat on my guys. I've made them fix the shower three times so far and I'm still not satisfied lmao.

Do you really own a flooring company? If so, I'd love to get a line on that tile you used in your master bath. I'd even be willing to drive down there and buy it from you. Shower stall is only 60"x36" so price per square foot isn't really much of an issue. Please PM me if you can help me out. I close on my place in 2 weeks and will be rebuilding the master bathroom before I move in.

Yeah really own one lol. We aren't nearly as big as we used to be. We are doing a lot of remodel stuff now a days. Before we did a lot of commercial work for schools and DoD stuff. I'll PM you later when I get another second and see if I can do anything. :thumb2:

It's looking great! I love the patio. Also, I think we have the same washer and dryer.

Thanks man! Are they GE? Personally I thought the patio was pretty small for the size of the house but we don't spend much time on the patio. More so in the yard with the dogs.

Yeah. My sister-in-law works for GE oil and gas. Apparently they just sold their appliances division to Electrolux and were trying to get rid of some inventory that was allotted just for employees and their family, so we got a great deal on our fridge, washer, and dryer.

That's funny. I was kind of surprised by the lack of front loaders from GE. It was either these or some pretty standard ones that weren't that appealing to us.

Do you know if they are still going to have GE branded appliances or is it being rolled into Electrolux? I would imagine the latter sadly.

Edit: I was Googling and found this lol.

Edit to the edit: It looks like they will still be selling GE products / line. Good for us.

Off of the top of my head I want to say that they included a clause in the deal that said they have to sell them under the GE name for so many years. I could be wrong though, so I'll check those links out.

Is the master bathroom shower tile the same as the laundry room floor tile?

I'm surprised they used a 1 piece insert for the main bathroom shower surround.

As long as I can get parts when I need them I'll be happy lol. Sounds like since Electrolux is the second largest appliance maker they would want to keep their customers happy.

Yeah, it's all the same tile 18" but set on a 45 degree / diamond.

What do you mean about the shower enclosure?

I'm trying to be delicate here but I think you might have had nicer/more expensive options in a half million dollar house. They are most often promoted as an extremely low cost way of replacing a bad shower surround, very popular in motels and RV's.

Yeah, I think (or hope!) we'll be fine. My grandmother had an Electrolux vacuum when I was growing up and that thing was a beast. Plus, Electrolux sent one brave little toaster to freaking Mars. If that's not impressive, I don't know what is.

I've seen million dollar homes with those inserts. I'm sure there are a range of options to choose from, and it's up to the buyer to decide what they want. Hell, my wife and I went with very basic tile in our guest bedroom bathrooms, as well as the lowest grade mirrors, faucets, and lights in our house. We're in the process of switching out all but the tile now, and will likely do that in the next couple of years.

Personally, I think the shower looks fine. Besides, a curtain will be all most people see anyway. I can definitely see your point, though.

No need to be gentle. We all have our opinions man. I don't take shit personal. I'm not sure I'm really on the same page though lol. I take it as a compliment but it's really not even close to half a million dollar house.

From my experience hotels they typically have shower curtains. An RV is going to have an enclosure but that just makes sense to me. Or are you saying there are nicer enclosures out there? Yeah I really like the all solid glass enclosures. Unfortunately the builder doesn't offer options on everything. For example, I was interested in upgrading the quality of the sliding glass doors because we have horrible doors in our house now. The only option you could do was changing the width by a foot. Maybe down the road. It wouldn't be too bad to do since it's not that big of an enclosure with that half wall.

Sounds like we are going to be fine lol. I love space stuff so they just got a +1 lol. Like I said above, lots of options but some stuff they didn't even offer choices on. I did the same with our guest bathroom, just went with the cheap tub / enclosure. No one uses it beyond the toilet. Eventually I'll put a real tub and tile in there. Same reason why we are having to add the light rail trim after too. The only way we could of got it apparently is to purchase the cabinet lighting through them which wouldn't work with our situation lol.

^ I was talking about the one piece white fiberglass insert in the main bath, not the gorgeous master bath.

Ohhhh. I thought you were talking about the master when you said main. Yeah like I said we don't use the second bathroom and it's not a big deal for me to change it. The pricing was pretty silly on some things. Like say the accent tile in the shower was 25% of the price as having the same accent tile installed above the garden tub in the master bathroom. Cost me $50 in tile, $60 in shipping to order it to do the tub accent.
