He's not the only tuner who won't answer emails or at best does so sporadically. But at least the one I've gone through will pick up a phone call. Completely ignoring customers is flat unacceptable.

Having to pass emissions can be a PITA. Read some horror stories. I do not look forward to it if and when I move to WA in a couple years.

Ordered my Bob's oil separator today and tomorrow I'm ordering my catback. I'm considering the Borla Atak's and the Corsa Extreme.

..it can be done, even with the most outrageous builds ;) :boobies:
Suppose I'll cross that bridge when I arrive. Guessing at a minimum stock cats will have to go back on, breathers come off and catch cans go on, and a retune. Would be nice to avoid some of that.

Replaced the urethane bushing on one of my lowers today, installed a driveshaft loop, topped off my transmission, and helped a friend do a master cylinder on his old honda civic.

I have no one to blame but myself but lesson learned. I'm glad I got this new car. It's by far the best one I've owned to date.

Thank Darrin, glad to be a part of the new fraternity.

Yep, same asshole tuner. Again I'll never ever recommend him to anyone. Piss poor customer service.

Sorry to hear you and bleedinblue had issues with Mike...

Congrats on the 2015, I love mine!

Thanks for the info, definitely a name to keep in mind.
It's a shame to see a few people have had a bad experience with Mike. I have nothing but good things to say about him and his tunes. But I am only 15 minutes from his shop, and we don't have emissions testing here, but do in some counties north of us in VA. So I'm sure there are people who have used him and passed. I was tuned on his dyno and he provided great customer service. Sometimes it would be a day or two before he would respond to email, when I was first gathering information about who to use. But he was very helpful and knowledgeable and that was one of the reasons I chose to use him. He had informed me he was a one man show and that sometimes it may take him a day or so to reply, but he tried to get back within 24 hours. I have since contacted him a number of times with questions and always got a reply. I'm not making excuses for him just want to inform others of my experience. His tune has been nothing but flawless to me on all accounts as well. Again just sharing my experience, but I would guess that if you look his positive reviews will greatly outnumber his negative. At least they did when I researched who to choose. I am a service advisor at a dealership and pride myself on my level of customer service I provide. But I will admit, it's very difficult to maintain a 100% customer service index score on my surveys...

I don't count my experience as necessarily a negative review, more neutral. His exact (or close to exact) words when I first contacted him about my emissions problems were "I can't guarantee I can get you to pass, but I am very confident I can."

My biggest problem with the experience is that the tune he sent me tripped a CEL. He told me that wasn't a problem, and drive the car until all readiness monitors set up, then clear the CEL and take the car immediately to the emissions shop. After he told me that I clarified his meaning. That doesn't make sense at all, because when you clear the CEL it resets the monitors. He should know that.

He was always quick to respond to emails, until I switched from his tune to stock. Then he went silent.

I wish I was more familiar with what is required for emissions. It has been some time since I lived in area that had it. Last time was when I was in NJ many years ago and all I remember them doing was testing smog levels from the exhaust and making sure the CEL was not on...sounds like they look into much now. I have an OBD link MX and have their app and Torque on my phone and have an SCT iTSX. I see on Torque there is a whole read out for emissions readiness that gives me green checks or red X's but never paid any attention to it since I have no cats haha. Do they check and make sure you have all green checks when you go in, and test for smog??? I do remember when I put on my LT's with ORX I plugged the rear o2's since I thought they would not be used. At the time I was running old Bama tune, and when I started it up the CEL came for the rear o2 heater circuits. I was unaware they still used them in some fashion and they still needed to be hooked up even though I had no cats. I plugged them back up and hadn't had an issue after that on their tune. But shortly after that I switched to Mike so I can get tuned live on a dump. And didn't have any issues with a CEL on his tune either. Thinking back now I'm guessing maybe they used the rear o2 heater circuits for emissions readiness to not a have a red X in that area??? This emissions stuff sounds like a real pain in the ass...I hope they don't ever add it to my county...haha

Here they basically check for the CEL and make sure readiness monitors are set up. They don't use sniffers or anything, I ended up passing even though they knew I had no cats.

Here is basically all about being road worthy for safety. You technically are supposed to have cats, we just don't give a a shit if they work or not haha since we don't check smog. In most northern VA cities with heavy population they check for smog like Arlington and Alexandria. And they check all other safety related items the rest of the state goes by. I'm just glad I don't live in CA I hear they're the worst...and can't even get 93 octane over there...

True, 91 in AZ/CA....boo....

But I can tell you this...as much as the SI are a pain in the ass I understand why after seeing some of the POS's people drive, there is no way they are safe to drive on Interstates with speeds up to 75/80 and endanger other people.

Like we discussed, any car/truck I get with an emissions issue goes straight to wholesale. It's too much of a pain to juggle in an attempt to turn over inventory fast.

CA blows though worst than VA lol

Yeah California is ridiculous with the smog checks where I'm convinced it's filling someone's pocket, but the only safety check I'm aware of happens if you buy a salvage car from the junkyard.
