Hard days work installing landscape timbers with a rock bed and some pavers under the steps.

Put up some polystyrene sheets on the interior of my attached garage. Looks weird now, but hopefully it will keep the rooms that are adjacent to it a little more normal as far as temp. Our room is right beside it and my son's room is directly over it. There was no insulation at all in the ceiling. I will be sweeping up tiny styrofoam beads for years...

Finally got the porch ceiling covered up with some beard board paneling. Still need to finish up the trim work using some PVC cove trim. Thankful for awesome neighbors that let me use their dry hanger which made installing the ceiling a breeze by myself.

Very nice. Love my Weber’s
Been eyeing them for a couple years now. Been wanting a grill area for just along, but a couple days ago this design popped into my head and yesterday dad came over to help build it. Didnt want my rusty old grill in the new area so finally pulled the trigger on the Weber. The smoker is to big for what I need so thinking about getting rid of it and going pellet or electric. Definitely going to see about getting a gas line over to the grill in the near future as well.

I am trying to motivate myself for a bathroom overhaul. We have blue tub, sinks, and toilet from the 60's. Given the sheer weight of the tub I would rather leave it and refinish the thing but I have zero experience with the kits that are available so I don't know how good they are. Anybody use one to refinish a cast iron tub? New tubs aren't that expensive, but trying to haul a 400 pound beast out of the house does not sound like a good time. I have read a TON of reviews on every kind of tub from acrylic to steel and everything else and they are all over the map. I would like a one piece tub shower combo but there's no way to get it into the bathroom.

We recently replaced the shower/tub in our hall bathroom. The original tub was steel and rusted through. So I had no choice in removing it. I ended up using a cut off wheel and cutting it in half to get it out. If I had removed the toilet I could've gotten it out in one piece. That being said I've seen a lot of people just break cast iron tubs and taking them out in pieces.

We ended up going with a fiberglass type at up. The shower surround was in 3 pieces and snapped together with caulking sealing it. Since the new tub was bigger valves and drains needed to be moved. We did the demo and ended up having a plumber do the install. So far so good. I need to finish the dry wall, but I think I'm going to finish the update when I do that. If you have an old house that hasn't been updated you might have to deal with a mud wall. Cement and mesh wire attached to the studs. I tried cutting it out in chunks, but it just didn't work for us. So big hammers then shoveling it into trash bags.

Toilet needs to come out to remove the tub. After that it's not hard, just dirty. Use a dolly to roll it out of the house once you have it detached and standing up on end. You can bring the new one in the same way.

We completed the second bath remodel several years ago and had a similar situation with a home built in the early 70's. Gutted the entire bathroom, sink/cabinet/vanity first, toilet second, cast iron tub third then all the old sheetrock and flooring. The tub was a pain in the ass since the builder/plumber ran the water supply lines and drain vent between the steel tub and the outer steel support frame of the tub. I ended up having to cut the tub in sections to get it around the piping. The water and drain lines had to be removed and installed against the studs and into the chase before I could fit the new tub. We went with a cast iron tub and it took three of us to get it into the bathroom and set into place. Also replaced the old style round toilet with the newer elongated toilet. Good luck!

Finished up the downstairs bath/laundry room. New floor tile, new paint, new toilet, new glass tile backsplash for the sink. Those things are a PITA to cut. 12 projects down, 10 to go. When the project list is blank, then wifey says I can buy a truck. Motivation yo.

So I am about to start a tree fort for the kids and I have a couple questions. First off, do I need to use 2x10 for the joists or can I go with 2x6? The whole thing will be about 8x16 ft.
Next, I will be using 4x4 posts at the corners and maybe another in the center of each long side. Is it better to cut a notch for the joist to fit into then lag bolt it or use some sort of steel bracket? Or set it on top of the post?
