Maybe it's the angle, but it looks like the 10x20 sticks out past the fender.

That is why I wish I went with 295's instead. The rim lip is flush, but the tire causes a little poke. 10" wide at 38mm offset is basically the max before the rim is no longer flush on the rear.

I like the 19's on my 18, and those Michelins do have some good grip on the track. I'm not a fan of the staggered sizes though, I like the option of being able to rotate my tires to get that extra life out of em.

Seems most track guys don't want anything bigger than 18 and will tell you 19 and 20 are for car shows and cruising. I know Kenny Brown thinks track cars should have nothing bigger than 18" on them. I say drive with what you are comfortable with. I drive with hand controls, I'm not out to be the fastest guy on track or set any records, and have no issue with 20's so I've just never felt the need or the expense to change.

18's are inherently a little better off in terms of rotational inertia, and for as long as the largest common brake upgrade was 14", 18" wheels was all you needed for barrel clearance (rotor diameter + 4" is a good conservative guideline, though for some wheel and brake combinations rotor diameter + 3.5" might work). Meaning that 15" brakes require 19's (and 305/30 seems to be the easy 19" choice for the factories here).

Contact patch area does not depend on wheel size, and the actual distribution of load over the contact patch is only loosely tied to tire diameter (and it's nowhere near uniform).

Serious track guys are going to look at performance only, and let appearance fall wherever it lands, at least for the "track set". That level of seriousness can usually support a second set of wheels and tires whose appearance could be chosen more consistent with conventional preferences in appearance, if that's what's desired.

Where I live the roads are terrible so I think 19's are the best compromise, they allow for bigger brakes (I'm using 4-pot Brembo's up front) and give you a better ride (I'd be concerned about bending rims on 20's every time I hit a small/med bump).

Currently running a 245/45/19 square setup on 8.5" rims but looking to widen the back out to 9.5" on some Alcoa knockoffs or just run a 9.5 square setup (thinking 275/40/19's; other opinions?) The new rims will be: 8.5 up front; 9.5 rear). Actually, they don't look half bad in grey (originally came in flat black, had them powder coated so they ended up costing just as much or more than most rims you can buy retail; sans forged of course). Anyone have suggestions regarding rubber you recommend I'm all ears.

275s IMO are about the best size IMO.
Keep all 4 wheels the same size so you can rotate tires.

Running widened Alcoa rims, they are now 11.25 in the rear with a 305 Super Sport tire. Didn’t remove anything not even the rear shock dust cover. BUT the reared must be center with a adjustable panhard bar. Car is lowered with the Ford GT500KR springs

Very nice! Who did the widening work? I'm assuming that they required heat treating after the cutting/welding process. Was it a lot of work (and metal removal) to bring the polish back after heat treating?

Is that 11.25" between the bead seats or outside to outside?

What's the offset? Any spacers being used?

Is the front the same width?

I have the sve gt350r reps (~24lbs for 19x10 and 19x11)
This is my second set of 19s and while I think the size looks right on these cars the tire selection is not great, I’ve ran 285/35 and 295/35 on 10” rears (hankook and super sports)
With the wider sve wheel I decided to try the Firestone’s everyone raves about, I am impressed for literally half the price of super sports
They don’t make the right size but I found they do fit narrow so they actually work pretty good. 285/35 f and 325/30 rear

Eric Vaughn widened them. He used a new barrel on the back side and then they were welded together by computer. He only uses a single weld, Weld Craft uses two welds by cutting the rim in half and adding a filler piece. They retain the stock Dura Bright coating on the face and he clear coated the rim from behind the spokes back.

I sent him a 20x9 rim and told him to make them 20x11.25 so not sure exactly as it has been awhile but think it’s measure from outside to outside. Since they are widened going inward the offset is different but I don’t know what it is off the top of my head. No spacers of any kind are used.

Also widened the stock 07-09 GT500 rims went to 10.5 wide on these Weld Craft did them. Run a 305 Nitro 555r with this set up.
