i have an 08 bullitt.,the car currently has a stock engine, cmdp, 3 inch dynomax cat back exhaust, thp single turbo kit 61 mm billet wheel-10 psi, tr6060, fuel is provided by a gt500 dual pump kit, 93 octane and 60 lbs injectors. 510/530 rwhp. currently i have a spare stock 08.5 + 3v long block on a stand for a build set to the side for a future build.

I plan to run a dedicated e85 fuel system and big id1300s with a built motor, reusing the turbo and seeing what 15psi nets, it's a T4/61MM A/R.70. I'm now considering a frpp b53 or the brenspeed b326 versus building the spare 4.6 like planned. i followed a lot of Bruce's posts years ago and believe he was onto something with advocating for the potential of the boss block. i do remember a lot of concern about the main caps early on. was that concern substantiated? honestly i don't care about the weight if the 5.3 makes sense if i chose the 5.3 (brenspeed) with say 9.6 and the upped fuel system + boost on e85 would that net me in the territory (15+/-) of near 700rwhp/750rwtq? or more like 650/700? or...?

fwiw I'm not building a race car. it's just a cruiser and casual car show car. it'll occasionally see the track but all out drag isn't a priority and don't plan to rev super high. I would like to participate in half mile events though.

this is from like 5 years ago, but maybe just a few thousand miles. the car runs great. once torque ramps in it hits very strong. it maintains good horsepower to for longer pulls. currently the car has great street manners. I'd like to build on what i have, i'm not chasing down the mexico scene or a max effort build.

My .02c, just build the 4.6 to the old ford racing 4.6 aluminator specs, I made a 1000rwhp with one of those motor. I have a build sheet for my rebuilt 4.6 around somewhere if you are interested, currently making 1200 to the tires.

so I've kept in touch with Bruce from time to time and this thread prompted me to reach out to him.

This was his comment for what it's worth.

I think somehow the message got mixed up. The larger bore of the Boss helps most for n/a by unshrouding the valves and helping with airflow. Forced induction just pushes the air in there so it's not as big of a deal and the aluminum block is most likely quite a bit stronger than the boss (even though I'm sure it's still very strong) and lighter.

I suppose it would still help for times not under boost, no turbo experience.

if i were to reconsider staying with the 4.6 i'd like to keep it as a 4.6, and i was considering weisco pistons with compression ranging 10:1 or 11:1. molnar or k1 rods, Manley forged crank. with this turbo at 15 psi, a 4.6, e85 here are my two questions.

1- what could this combo put out in terms of power?

2-is it likely with this turbo pushed to 15 PSI that
it's at it's efficiency/ceiling, or is this a good stopping point to lean on this turbo while maintaining efficiency?

with the aluminator, 76mm @ 14psi, id1000 injectors, frpp intake and throttle body, running e85 I made around 675 to the tires. Or like MRBhp suggested just buy my car, it is up for sale.

^^^ This is the best, and ultimately the cheapest option believe it or not
that's honestly what I want to do. I do not want to build. I landed on the brenspeed idea because they're not terribly far from me and I like the idea of a ready to go long block/short block and I could get a generous core credit from them for this long block.

i did notice that RGR has a 630 area code which is Chicagoland based. however i read RGR moved at some point and does not share where the shop is located apparently. it's not listed on their website or Facebook page, does anyone know where it is? alternatively what's the most reliable shop to buy a built motor from that also uses an aluminum block? preferably in the Illinois/ Wisconsin/indiana area.

thank you for the insight! I'd like to say I'm interested but I'm partial to my car to be honest and I'm not looking to take on another s197 unless if it's a 13/14.

With your current turbo, the biggest question mark will be if can flow enough on the turbine side for a 4.6L V8 at that pressure ratio. Do you have the turbine specs?

i don't unfortunately, i i know the case says ec-1 but beyond what I've provided I don't really know much else about it

Without the full specs hard to say you can probably squeeze 600rwhp out of that 61mm before seeing any issues.

As mentioned some good rods pistons in the 4.6, good damper, opg and arp hardware would be the way to go imo. Thats how my turbo motor was setup and going on 10 years now with boost. 650rwhp on 93 770rwhp on e85 at 16psi. Currently running a 6871 .84ar turbo. 100% a street car and cruiser with focus on lowend torque and fun to drive on the street with the 6 speed.

Based on your mentioned wants for the car a billet 6765 sounds right up your alley. Plenty of response and still can support 650-700rwhp.

But I would go at it in stages get the built motor in it. See where the 61 can get you. Upgrade anything else you need (intercooler coldside if stock on3 or hp) then go from there.

yes! i couldn't agree more with your suggestion, it just slipped my mind in the brief rundown. who is the go-to for oil pump gears these days? TSS still? i myself was considering a comp 6768, one of the more basic ones because my combo already has oil lines and they give me no fuss really. Jim from my understanding over at turbo horsepower put together a really nice kit. I upgraded to the larger intercooler offered at the time. I could be mistaken but I believe the plumbing is good for a thousand horsepower with the upgraded intercooler that I have.

anyway as I'm piecemealing this idea together I would do this in isolated stages. it's usually a little bit easier to troubleshoot problems than throwing a lot of components on all at once sorting it out after. I like the boost street manners of my car as it is so I definitely don't mind sticking with this unit a good while longer. I know big horsepower equates big dollars, I watched this forum for years . with e85 around the corner from me, a built motor, the end result I want is 800+ to the tire maintaining strong low end I've possible. however I have no problems sacrificing peak horsepower numbers for greater street drivability.
