thanks Joe - sounds like you have some good setups there as well and are much more into the AV game then I.

The old reciever was a Marantz that cost me like $800 in 2006, but no HDMI connections so it had to be replaced rather than fixed, I wonder if there's a market for it to be sold

Check Ebay, thats a good indicator of the market for things like that. I have an older Denon AVR-2805 i thought about selling , but decided to use it in the garage. Now we have a Denon AVR-X3700 for the house and Dayton towers.

Yeah, eBay will give you a great idea of what it's worth. The amp I pulled out of the '94 is going for anywhere from $400-1800. I should probably sell it and buy some go-fast parts lol. The market for those old-school US-made amps is insane.

That's some good stuff there, James. I'm a big Denon fan. I tried to talk the wife into an upgrade this year (I was looking at a refurb X1600) but she didn't go for it lol.

problem for me is that the old amp will not power up... so I'd have to have it fixed first and it's Made in China

Gotcha. You could always sell it as-is/for parts, but that may be more hassle than it's worth. Electronics repairs shops are rare creatures any more.

What model is it? I like tinkering with the older stuff. China used to make good tuners. I have found a lot of times a capacitor fails and that's why the amp doesn't work. That's an easy fix.

I almost pulled the trigger on OLED but just didn't get the warm and fuzzies that their MTBF was satisfactorily proven yet.

I grabbed a 65" Samsung qled as my next gen plasma replacement instead. It's the shit and rates highly as a gaming platform, with superb all around AV performance. I may yet pine for the OLED inky blacks, but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.

That’s the house I built the year before, I’ve been framing, building houses since I was 19, and am 56 now. I’ve built every home(5) that I’ve ever lived in. Need a 3000 square foot garage and a 1500 square foot house!! Lol
